Blackstone does not pick a custom set of games. Its own source confirms only the count — 12 — and that is the standard pymetrics battery every employer on the platform runs, so the right preparation is to work through all twelve rather than hunt for a Blackstone-specific list. Every game has an exact simulator here; three representative ones are below.
The 3 games on this page, in order, with a summary at the end. 42 candidates preparing for Blackstone practiced here this season.
Exact simulator
Blackstone's own source confirms only the count: 12 games. The titles below are the standard pymetrics battery every employer on the platform runs — Balloons, Towers, Money Exchange (both rounds), Keypresses, Easy or Hard, Digits, Stop, Arrows, Lengths, Cards, and Faces. Practice the full set; Blackstone does not choose a subset.

Exact simulator
A risk-and-learning game: it rewards calibrated, learning-driven pumping over bravado — you are measured on how you update after each outcome, not on maximum payout.

Practice BalloonsExact simulator
A go/no-go inhibition game — one of the formats that is most disorienting on a cold first attempt, which is exactly what one practice run fixes.

Practice StopExact simulator
Brief flashes judged under a covert, uneven reward schedule. Practice it once so the mechanics are not a surprise on the real attempt.

Practice LengthsOur Blackstone question set supports preparation for the video interview stages described in this guide. Each question is labeled by its evidence: officially published, candidate-reported, or a practice question written for this company or role. Use the timed mock to practice answering aloud.
Blackstone puts two assessments inside the application rather than after it. Applicants submit a resume through the Workday campus portal, complete the pymetrics assessment — a set of 12 games that test behavioural traits like risk tolerance and decision-making — and record a short video interview. Only then do the individual business lines review candidates and select who to interview.
That means the games and the video are not a later hurdle you can prepare for once you have interest; they arrive within hours to days of applying, usually with a short completion window. Blackstone itself publishes nothing about its assessment vendors, so the format detail below comes from candidate reports and is labelled as such. First-round interviews are live and virtual, and second-round and final interviews are in person for investing jobs and entirely virtual for corporate ones.
Applicants submit a resume, take the pymetrics assessment of 12 games, and submit a short pre-recorded video interview. Each business line then reviews candidates and selects who to interview. All first-round interviews are virtual; for investing jobs, second-round and final interviews take place in person, and for non-investing/corporate jobs the process is entirely virtual. Blackstone has said first-year analyst acceptance runs around 0.3%.

Full-time campus positions appear on the Blackstone website as early as July, with interviews conducted from August to October — the same structure of a first-round video interview with a team member followed by a series of face-to-face meetings.

Candidate reports place the pymetrics battery across summer analyst, full-time, off-cycle, and the sophomore Future Leaders program, spanning Real Estate, PE, Credit, and Tactical Opportunities. There is no confirmation for technology or corporate-function roles.

Blackstone's official pages do not split the assessment steps by region, and no readable primary report confirms the games and video for London summer, APAC, or off-cycle hiring in current cycles. One detailed but dated London off-cycle report described pymetrics games with no video interview. Treat non-US coverage as unconfirmed and follow your invitation.

"In addition to submitting a resume, applicants take the Pymetrics assessment, a set of 12 games that test for particular behavioral traits like risk tolerance and decision-making. They also submit a short pre-recorded video interview." Prepare for both — they test entirely different things.

Candidates consistently describe the same order: apply, receive the pymetrics invitation within hours to a couple of days, then receive the one-way video invitation days later. Live interviews come after both.

Candidates describe a short recording — around three to five questions totalling about four minutes — mixing behavioural prompts with a question about a recent Blackstone deal or article. Counts vary across reports, so treat this as a planning assumption rather than a fixed spec.

Reported windows cluster around two to five days per assessment — one candidate had roughly five days for the pymetrics and video pair, another received the video the morning after finishing the games with two days to complete it. Your invitation email sets the real deadline.
Source: Glassdoor and WSO candidate reports (windows vary by cycle)
Candidates in one cycle described an "investment interview" and a "corporate interview" version, similar to each other with the investment one slightly more technical, and some reported that a single recording covered applications to several groups.
The games are pymetrics-branded (pymetrics is now owned by Harver), while the recorded round has been described by candidates as both a HireVue and a pymetrics video interview — sometimes within the same cycle thread. Which label is current is unresolved; the preparation is the same either way.

Most applicants appear to get both invitations quickly, but reports vary: some completed the games and never received a video invite, and some groups sent no games at all. New York postings also disclose an AI resume-screening tool whose scores are one factor in deciding who moves forward. The games can act as a real filter.

Blackstone recruits early and on a rolling basis, and it does not accept late applications. US investing roles run more than a year ahead of the internship; the assessments arrive within days of applying, so the practical deadline is the one in your invitation email.
| Cycle | Application dates | Likely assessment window | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| US Summer Analyst (investing) | Postings appear as early as January through March | Invites within hours to days of applying; typically 2–5 days to complete each | Official source Campus positions appear on the Blackstone website as early as January through March. Both assessments land within days of your application, so the preparation has to happen before you apply — not after the invitation arrives.
Split your time: one honest run through all 12 games so nothing is unfamiliar, and a set of short, spoken answers you can adapt to whichever three to five questions you get.
You get one scored attempt in roughly a 330-day window, so use practice to remove surprise. Complete all twelve, then go back to the two or three that felt worst.
The inhibition and perception games (Stop, Arrows, Lengths) and the risk games (Balloons, Cards) are where cold attempts go wrong. Learn the mechanics, then play consistently — consistency is part of what the platform measures.
Practice to camera under a real timer, answering directly and supporting each claim with one compact example. If a recording covers several group applications, keep your answers usable across all of them.
Candidates report a market or deal question inside the recording. Have one Blackstone transaction or piece of firm news you can discuss with a view, catalysts, and risks — not just a summary.
You apply to specific roles on specific teams, and the recorded interview reportedly comes in a more technical investment variant and a corporate variant. Prepare a group-specific reason for applying.
Reported windows are short — often two to five days. Check your invitation for the actual expiry, complete the technical checks early, and do not leave either assessment to the final evening.
Yes. A 2024 profile of Blackstone's HR leadership, hosted on blackstone.com, says applicants take the pymetrics assessment — a set of 12 games testing behavioural traits like risk tolerance and decision-making — as part of the application, alongside a short pre-recorded video interview.
Blackstone's own source confirms only that there are 12 games, not their titles. The standard pymetrics battery is Balloons, Towers, Money Exchange (both rounds), Keypresses, Easy or Hard, Digits, Stop, Arrows, Lengths, Cards, and Faces — every pymetrics employer runs the same set, so practice the whole battery rather than looking for a Blackstone-specific list.
Yes, and it is a separate, earlier step from the live first round. The one-way recording is submitted with the application alongside the games; the "first-round video interview with a member of the Blackstone team" that Blackstone's students page mentions is the live virtual interview that comes later. Whether the games and recording apply outside the US is unconfirmed — official pages do not split the steps by region, and one dated London off-cycle report described games with no video at all.
Candidates describe roughly three to five questions in about four minutes, mixing behavioural prompts with a question about a recent Blackstone deal or article. Counts differ between reports, so treat that as a planning assumption and read your invitation.
Reports genuinely conflict. The games are pymetrics-branded (pymetrics is now owned by Harver); the recording has been described by candidates as both a HireVue and a pymetrics video interview, sometimes in the same cycle thread. Which label is current is unresolved — the preparation is identical either way.
Reported windows cluster around two to five days per assessment — one candidate had about five days for the pair, another got two days for the video after finishing the games. The deadline in your own invitation email is the one that counts.
No, not within the platform's window. pymetrics results are valid around 330 days and the games can only be played once in that period; your gameplay is re-scored for any pymetrics employer you apply to during it. One older candidate report put the window at six months instead — either way, there is no second attempt.
Most applicants appear to receive both quickly, but not all: some candidates completed the games and never received a video invite, and some groups sent no games at all. New York postings also disclose an AI resume-screening tool whose scores feed the decision. Receiving the assessments is not an interview signal, and the games can act as a real filter.
Each business line reviews its applicants and selects who to interview. The first round is a live virtual interview, reported as behavioural-leaning, typically about two to three weeks after the recording. Superdays follow within roughly one to three weeks — in person for investing roles, virtual for corporate ones — with one report describing five 30-minute interviews in a day.
Blackstone has said first-year analyst acceptance runs around 0.3%, with more than 150 summer interns in 2024 and the majority of the full-time analyst class hired from the internship. The application-stage assessments filter enormous volume before a human reads your file.
