A handover with no agreed owner

You coordinate a weekly report. Two colleagues each thought the other would supply the final figures. The report is due tomorrow. Both can provide the figures today, and either is authorised to do so. You are responsible for coordinating their contribution. Rate each action independently.

Send both colleagues a reminder that the report is due tomorrow without assigning an owner.

Common questions

What is the Civil Service Judgement Test?

The CSJT is an untimed UK Civil Service assessment. It includes self-report questions about your typical work behaviour and workplace scenarios in which you rate four actions independently. The scenarios are relevant to your job level and selected behaviours. Our scored practice develops scenario judgement, with separate unscored self-report familiarization in the study guide.

Which grades can I practice?

Choose AA/AO, EO, HEO/SEO or Grade 7. These are the grade groups listed for the CSJT in current government guidance. Our scenarios use the corresponding published behaviour expectations. Grade 6 and senior civil service assessments are outside this product’s scope.

Do I have to use all four ratings?

No. Rate every action independently as Counterproductive, Ineffective, Fairly effective or Effective. Two or more actions can share a rating, and a scenario need not use every rating. One action is not a step that automatically happens before another.

How long is a full practice sitting?

Choose the behaviours to practice. A full scenario sitting contains three scenarios per selected behaviour, with four actions per scenario. The default three behaviours give nine scenarios and 36 action ratings. All practice is untimed. Your actual test depends on the job; this practice does not recreate a fixed universal exam.

Does this include video scenarios?

This release uses original written scenarios. The real assessment may contain text, video or both; its videos have transcripts available. Our exercises train judgement and rating decisions. The study guide links to the official practice test so you can also become familiar with its video presentation.

Can I try the practice for free?

The example on this page needs no account. Eligible trial access gives one attempt at each short drill; other access groups require a pass before starting. One Civil Service Judgement pass covers all grades, drill replays and full scenario sittings for its duration. Results and explanations remain available after your pass ends.

How do you score the practice?

We report agreement with our reviewed editorial ratings, explain differences and show results by behaviour. These are not official Civil Service scores or percentiles. Our demanding practice targets are chosen learning goals, not a prediction that you will pass. The self-report familiarization has no correct answers or score.

Will scenarios repeat?

There are 216 original scenarios: six for every combination of the nine behaviours and four grade groups. New practice favours scenarios you have not seen. Replays eventually reuse material; results identify prior exposure so you can distinguish learning from familiarity.

Is this the same as Management Judgement or Fast Stream tests?

No. Civil Service Management Judgement, Work Strengths, Styles, Casework and Fast Stream assessments can have different tasks and instructions. Check the exact assessment name in your invitation. This product prepares specifically for the Civil Service Judgement Test’s scenario-rating format.

Also taking a reasoning test?
