Study guide & worked examples

SHL specifies up to 18 multiple-choice questions in 24 minutes. Our practice uses original questions and five visual choices. SHL Inductive Reasoning fact sheet.

Common questions

Which SHL Inductive format is this?

This track prepares for Verify Inductive Reasoning in the multiple-choice format: up to 18 questions in 24 minutes. The Interactive format uses up to 15 tasks in 18 minutes, with different controls. Check your invitation for the name, format and duration before choosing a track.

What can I try, and what does a pass cover?

Where your access includes a trial, each short drill has one free attempt. One Inductive Multiple Choice pass covers unlimited replays of all seven drills and full timed tests during the selected period. The Interactive Inductive track and other assessment categories have separate passes. Saved answers and explanations remain available after a pass ends.

Does the full practice adapt?

Our full practice starts at intermediate difficulty and adjusts the next question after each answer. It covers all six practice topics and ends after 18 questions, submission or 24 minutes. This is our own practice progression, not SHL’s proprietary adaptive algorithm or scoring system.

When do I see the answers?

Short drills show the explanation after each submitted answer, including the final question. Full timed practice shows answers and explanations only after you finish. Our practice is forward-only: submitting or skipping moves to a new question. A selection must be submitted to count.

What is a good practice score?

The full-practice goal is a demanding 16 out of 18, with a stretch goal of 17. Progress checks also consider time, coverage of every topic and performance on challenge questions. These are provisional practice goals, not official SHL pass marks, percentiles or predictions of an employer’s decision.

Are these real SHL test questions?

No. Every question and worked example is original. We cover visual reasoning skills described in SHL’s specification, including patterns and missing figures. We are independent of SHL and do not reproduce its live questions.

Independent preparation, not affiliated with SHL. Practice results are not official SHL scores or employer pass predictions.
