What is the difference between TSI and TSIA2?
TSI is the Texas Success Initiative. TSIA2 is the current assessment used to help Texas colleges assess readiness in mathematics and English Language Arts and Reading, or ELAR. People often search for it as the TSI test. Your college decides whether you need it or qualify for an exemption.
Which TSIA2 sections should I practice?
Check your college’s instructions. Mathematics and ELAR are separate areas, and ELAR includes reading, writing and an essay component. Mathematics and ELAR multiple-choice testing use a College Readiness Classification test, or CRC; some results lead to diagnostic questions. Your college will tell you whether you need multiple-choice testing, the essay or both.
Is TSIA2 timed?
TSIA2 is untimed, including its essay. Our drills, CRC practices, diagnostic practices and essay workspace are also untimed. Check your testing center’s appointment and session arrangements before test day.
Are these official or adaptive TSIA2 questions?
These are original practice questions arranged around the published subject blueprints. The official multiple-choice test is computer adaptive. Our practice forms use fixed blueprints and report raw practice results; they do not generate official TSIA2 scale scores or a college-readiness decision.
Can I use a calculator?
The official test provides an on-screen calculator only for designated questions. Depending on the item, it can be a basic, square-root or graphing calculator. Our math practice makes the appropriate tool available question by question. Follow your testing center’s rules about other tools and accommodations.
What does a TSIA2 pass cover?
One TSIA2 pass covers mathematics, ELAR and essay practice: all CRC and diagnostic forms, the essay workspace and unlimited short-drill replays during your pass period. Accounts with a free first attempt can try each short drill once. Saved results and explanations remain available.
Does this replace the required Pre-Assessment Activity?
No. Complete the official Pre-Assessment Activity required by your college before your first TSIA2 test, and follow its instructions for providing proof of completion. Our independent practice is separate from that requirement.
