Not sure which level to choose?
Your program may use a locator to choose a level for each subject. Ask which version, subjects and levels you need; they do not have to match.

Read a worked example, learn the method and practice a matching skill. The study guide also explains timing, calculator rules and how to use your results.
Open the TABE study guideCommon questions
Which TABE level should I practice?
Use the level assigned by your program. Reading, math and language can have different levels. If you have not been assigned one, ask your program whether you will take a locator. Our locator practice introduces the question types; it does not assign an official level.
Does this cover TABE 13&14 or TABE 11&12?
This practice follows the published TABE 13&14 blueprints for Levels E, M, D and A. Check your invitation before choosing materials. Level L, TABE CLAS-E and older 11&12 forms are outside this practice collection.
Can I use a calculator?
It depends on the level and part. Level E has no calculator. Level M permits a basic calculator in Part 2 only. Level D permits a scientific calculator in Part 1 only. Level A permits a scientific calculator in both parts. Our math tests apply these rules automatically.
What TABE score do I need?
Your school, training program or employer sets its own requirements. Our results show your practice points and skills to work on. They are not official TABE scale scores, grade equivalents or a placement decision.
What does one TABE pass include?
One TABE pass covers all reading, math and language levels here: full subject tests, locator practice and unlimited drill replays during the pass period. Eligible accounts can try each short drill and locator practice once before buying a pass. Saved answers and explanations remain available.
When do I see the answers?
Short drills explain each checked question or passage group. Full subject tests and timed locator practice show answers only after you finish. A completed test part stays locked when the next part begins.
