What is on the current PELLETB?
The California POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery tests spelling, vocabulary, clarity and reading comprehension. Clarity questions offer two sentence choices. CLOZE was removed from tests administered on or after January 1, 2025.
How does the practice work?
Start with a short, untimed skill drill and review a worked explanation after each question. Use a timed section to practice pacing, then combine all four sections in full practice. Timed attempts show answers and explanations after you finish.
Can I practice for free?
Eligible accounts can try each short drill once. One PELLETB pass covers all drill replays, the four timed sections and full practice. Your available access is shown before you start.
How long is the PELLETB?
POST’s current format guidance allows 1 hour 45 minutes to answer the questions, with about 30 additional minutes for instructions. Our full practice uses one 105-minute answering clock. The shorter clocks on individual section tests are practice settings.
How many questions are on the test?
POST’s preparation guide describes 15–18 questions in each of the three writing sections and 20–24 reading comprehension questions, for 65–78 in total. Our full practice uses 78 original questions: 18 each for spelling, vocabulary and clarity, plus 24 for reading.
Will my practice percentage predict a T-score?
No. Official T-scores use standardized scoring, and each agency sets its own qualifying standard. Our results show your accuracy and progress on original practice questions; they do not convert into an official T-score or determine whether an agency will accept you.
Should I still study CLOZE?
CLOZE is not part of the current PELLETB. Older books and web pages may describe the previous five-section format. Focus your PELLETB preparation on the four current sections and check your testing invitation for appointment instructions.
