How the Wells Fargo hiring process works

Wells Fargo's official hiring process has six phases: Get Started, Apply (a Workday application with resume autofill), Review, Interview, Consider an Offer, and Support. Interviews vary by business group and may be by phone, in a group, or 1:1 with a hiring manager or recruiter. Some positions additionally require the On-Demand Screen — a preliminary one-way video interview run by a third-party vendor — and Wells Fargo advises completing it as quickly as possible after the invitation email arrives. Wells Fargo's official answer framework is the SBO method (situation, behavior, outcome), its rebrand of STAR, so behavioral answers structured that way match what interviewers are trained to score.

For early-careers programs, candidates report applying by the program deadline, then receiving the on-demand video interview (reported by candidates to run on HireVue) on a rolling basis — sometimes almost immediately after applying. Reported formats range from 3 to 7 questions, with about 30-60 seconds of prep and 1-3 minutes per answer; the mix is heavily behavioral, with an occasional basic technical question (the three financial statements for IB, the 5 C's of credit for credit-track roles). Prep sites report a completion window of about 3-7 days. After the video round, candidates describe waits of up to 2-3 months before a superday — reported as either three 30-minute interviews or five back-to-back interviews with two interviewers each, mixing behavioral and technical questions — with offers sometimes extended the same day.

Wells Fargo does not pair the video screen with gamified assessments: prep-site claims that it uses pymetrics-style games are not corroborated by any candidate report or official source. Branch and retail roles (teller, personal banker) instead take a Virtual Job Tryout by Modern Hire — a long job-simulation assessment combining teller task simulations, situational judgment, and personality sections. India campus and technology hiring is reported to use aptitude and coding tests (AMCAT/HackerRank) plus a Versant spoken-English test rather than a video interview, though reports there are thinner.
