Westpac video interview questions

Westpac's Australian graduate program runs a four-stage pipeline (officially documented): a ~10-minute online application via the graduate careers portal with resume, academic transcript, program preferences and pre-screening questions; then online assessments — a Culture Fit assessment plus a games-based psychometric measuring problem solving and reasoning — with emailed deadlines that in some cases give you only 48 hours; then the pre-recorded video interview; then a half-day assessment centre (virtual in recent cycles) combining a behavioural one-on-one interview, a business-related individual activity or case study, and a group assessment. Offers come through the Careers portal, followed by reference and background checks run through First Advantage. Applications typically open in July and close in August, assessment centres run September–October, and graduates start in February. The 10-week summer internship (late November to mid-February) follows the same four stages.

The video interview itself is one-way: you record answers to preset questions on your own device, and Westpac officially warns you cannot pause, stop or restart once a question begins, so use the practice run it provides to test your microphone and camera. Officially it assesses your motivations and your "Uncommon Mind" (Westpac's graduate branding), and Westpac's own guide recommends STAR-structured behavioural answers while cautioning against overly rehearsed responses. Reported question counts and timings vary by role and cycle — from roughly 4 questions in a 72-hour window for graduates to around 9 questions for customer-service roles — so treat exact configurations as variable.

For non-graduate roles, Westpac's recruitment-process page describes a longer pipeline of up to seven stages including online testing, "a video interview where you can record your answers to some questions or a phone interview", and background checks through First Advantage. Candidate reports for customer-facing roles (Customer Service Advisor, Personal Banking Advisor) describe the same one-way recorded format with service-focused behavioural questions.

On the assessments side, the only durable official claim is Westpac's own wording that the psychometric stage involves "several games-based activities" alongside the Culture Fit assessment. Candidate and prep-site reports (2019–2024 cycles) point to Revelian (now Criteria) game-based cognitive tests — applicants discuss RCAT scores in Westpac graduate threads — and to a Modern Hire-delivered culture assessment, but vendors and configurations change between cycles, so verify against your own invitation email.
