Pulse

The HireVue Pulse game is a rapid go/no-go assessment of impulse control. Objects flash on screen one at a time; you respond only when the target — a red dot — is present, and hold back for everything else. It measures response inhibition, sustained attention, and your ability to follow a simple rule at speed. It assesses Impulse Control, Sustained Attention and Consistency Under Speed.

HireVue does not publish a pass mark or a score scale for Pulse. Employers see percentile-style results benchmarked against other candidates and role models rather than a raw score, and each employer sets its own bar for who advances — so a result that ends one application can pass at another company. Because results are relative, the practical goal is maximizing accurate answers within the time limit. In our simulator a correct pass — holding back when there is no red dot — scores as well as a correct click; the pace speeds up while you stay accurate and eases off after mistakes.

Our Pulse simulator runs for 2 minutes. Objects arrive in a continuous stream until time runs out, so there is no fixed number of rounds. In the real HireVue assessment each game is individually timed and there is no pause button once a game starts; most games run three to five minutes each, and you usually get one attempt — retakes are rare.

Check the access shown before starting Pulse. Eligible accounts have one free attempt at each game. A HireVue pass includes unlimited replays. All results, explanations and available comparisons stay free. Passes do not renew automatically.

Our employer guides do not currently name an employer whose reported HireVue lineup includes Pulse as an exact match. Employers with documented HireVue-games use on this site include Shell, Unilever, Emirates and NATO; game lineups change by role, region, and recruiting cycle, so your invitation is the controlling source.
