What is the HireVue E-Motions game and what does it measure?
The HireVue E-Motions game evaluates your emotional intelligence (EQ). You are shown images of people and must quickly and accurately identify which of six emotions is being displayed — happiness, surprise, sadness, anger, fear, or disgust. It assesses Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Empathy and Observation Skills.
How is the E-Motions game scored, and what is a good score?
HireVue does not publish a pass mark or a score scale for E-Motions. Employers see percentile-style results benchmarked against other candidates and role models rather than a raw score, and each employer sets its own bar for who advances — so a result that ends one application can pass at another company. Because results are relative, the practical goal is maximizing accurate answers within the time limit. In our simulator you see instantly whether you got each face right, and the correct answer when you do not, with four minutes to get through as many as possible.
How long does the E-Motions game take, and how many rounds are there?
Our E-Motions simulator runs for 4 minutes. Levels keep coming until the clock runs out, so there is no fixed number of rounds. In the real HireVue assessment each game is individually timed and there is no pause button once a game starts; most games run three to five minutes each, and you usually get one attempt — retakes are rare.
Is E-Motions practice free here?
Check the access shown before starting E-Motions. Eligible accounts have one free attempt at each game. A HireVue pass includes unlimited replays. All results, explanations and available comparisons stay free. Passes do not renew automatically.
Which employers use the E-Motions game?
Our employer guides do not currently name an employer whose reported HireVue lineup includes E-Motions as an exact match. Employers with documented HireVue-games use on this site include Shell, Unilever, Emirates and NATO; game lineups change by role, region, and recruiting cycle, so your invitation is the controlling source.
