How the WTW hiring process works

For early careers, WTW runs a four-stage pipeline: an online application through careers.wtwco.com (Oracle Recruiting Cloud), then the HireVue Assessment — a one-way recorded video interview that WTW says "helps us consider which program might be appropriate for you" — then a "Meet us" stage that is an assessment centre or interview depending on location and program, and finally offer and onboarding. Under New York City law, WTW gives at least 10 days' notice before requesting the video assessment, and NYC residents get 14 days to complete it.

Candidate reports describe the HireVue itself as roughly 5-8 questions, with about 1-2 minutes of preparation time (untimed note-taking allowed before recording) and up to 3 minutes per recorded answer. Most reports describe a single recording attempt per question, though one report describes three attempts, so employers appear to configure this per requisition. Three practice questions are typically shown before the live set, and some configurations add one written/typed question alongside the video responses — consistent with WTW's official statement that it collects answers candidates "select or type in."

The same HireVue Assessment ends with game-based cognitive mini-games. WTW's official NYC disclosure confirms gameplay data is collected and that problem solving, data analysis, and cognitive ability are assessed; multiple candidates describe two games at the end — one cycling through addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems, and one asking you to judge whether patterns are identical. These descriptions match HireVue's mental-arithmetic (Numerosity-style) and pattern-matching (Shapedance-style) games, though WTW does not officially name the game titles.

Some UK and actuarial tracks report an online numerical and cognitive-ability test between the application and the HireVue, and the later assessment centre is reported as a group case, individual case, and competency interview. For experienced hires, WTW's official candidate-journey guidance describes a recruiter conversation, then optional preliminary questions via HireVue video interview software, an optional role-based assessment (skills test, business case, or work samples), a hiring-manager interview, and a final team/stakeholder interview.
