Candidates apply online through L.E.K.'s applicant tracking system with a CV and cover letter, and may apply to only one global office per application year. L.E.K.'s official careers pages describe several rounds of interviews mixing experiential (fit) questions with candidate-led case studies, both quantitative and strategic, and note that the process differs slightly by region.
Selected candidates in many offices first receive an online screening assessment. The best-attested version is a game-based digital assessment built on HireVue that takes under ten minutes and contains no behavioral questions: reported games include a mental-math exercise (picking two numbers that combine to a target), a pattern or shape memory-recall task, and a logic puzzle such as connecting pipes on a grid, with rounds that start simple and grow more complex. The screen is not uniform — some offices or roles reportedly use SHL-style aptitude tests or a longer case-style data exercise of up to about 75 minutes, and London officially runs an online testing stage that may use the Applied platform for certain vacancies.
A recorded one-way video component appears only in scattered reports. A Shanghai intern described an internet-based round with no interviewer and 3-4 pre-set questions — roughly two to three behavioral questions plus one market-sizing estimate — and a UK associate described a personality test, numerical and verbal reasoning, pattern-recognition tasks, and a final HireVue video interview. Employers configure recorded-interview settings per requisition, and no preparation-time, answer-length, or retake details for L.E.K. are credibly reported, so treat any such specifics you see elsewhere as generic platform defaults rather than L.E.K. facts.
After screening, first rounds are typically two interviews of roughly 30-45 minutes, each pairing a short fit section with a candidate-led case (market sizing and qualitative strategy cases are both reported). Final rounds involve two to three interviews with senior staff and Partners, oral cases plus, in many offices, a written case, with fit and experiential questions throughout. Candidates report roughly two to three months end to end, with about two weeks between steps.
