Take the Bank of America mock interviewHow the Bank of America hiring process works
Bank of America's campus and early-career hiring process starts with an online application on careers.bankofamerica.com — CV upload plus competency questions — with rolling openings whose deadlines vary by program and region. Application status is trackable in the candidate account. Shortly after application review, shortlisted candidates are invited to the on-demand HireVue video interview, which acts as the first-round screen before any live conversation.
The video interview is asynchronous rather than live. Candidates see a fixed set of pre-set questions, record answers to a webcam, and the recordings are reviewed later by recruiters — Bank of America states plainly that it is "unable to ask any follow-up questions" and that "you'll be asked exactly the same questions as every other candidate." Officially, you get 30 seconds to prepare and up to three minutes to answer, with the bank advising you to use at least 1:45 of that time, and practice questions are provided before the recorded ones begin. Candidate reports most often describe around five behavioural, open-ended questions, though counts vary by requisition. Whether retakes are available is one of the least settled details: reports range from a single attempt to two optional retakes, and one prep source says it depends on the settings configured for the specific interview — employers configure this per role, so read the on-screen instructions before recording.
Most roles can be completed on a smartphone, and progress can be saved and resumed via an emailed link. The exception the branded tenant calls out is that "certain positions, such as programmers, include coding challenges which require you to use a personal computer," so technology candidates should expect a coding component delivered inside the same HireVue flow. Bank of America does not publish a fixed completion deadline after the invite; campus recruiting runs on a rolling basis with regional program deadlines.
After recruiter review of the recordings, successful candidates typically move to one or two rounds of competency-based interviews — phone, video or in-person — with HR and business managers, and may be asked to complete further "exercises and assessments to measure key aptitudes and values." The final stage is an assessment centre or Superday with business representatives, which the official pages say may include a group component or a presentation exercise, before an offer decision. Regional differences show up mainly in scheduling and contacts rather than format: EMEA campus postings, for example, route interview adjustment requests for video interviews through a dedicated junior talent EMEA mailbox, while APAC guidance emphasises practice time to get accustomed to the HireVue platform.
