How the EY hiring process works

In the US, early-career candidates apply online and receive an SHL-run skills assessment invitation within about one business day — roughly 20 minutes, untimed with pause/resume, a single attempt, to be completed within 24 hours. After a holistic review, interview rounds vary by service line and can include prerecorded video interviews (delivered through HireVue, per EY's own privacy notice), live video interviews, or case study interviews. Application deadlines fall in the autumn and differ by service line, and EY caps candidates at two applications per six months.

EY's on-demand video interview format is configured per requisition, so reports vary: most candidates describe 3-8 questions with around 30-60 seconds of preparation and 90 seconds to 3 minutes per answer, usually with one chance to re-record. EY officially notes that questions may be sent in advance, and several US candidates confirm receiving their question with the invitation email. HireVue interviews are reported well beyond campus hiring — audit senior, manager, senior consultant and EY-Parthenon candidates all describe on-demand rounds — and some tracks add a 15-minute HireVue game-based assessment or a written/multiple-choice component (one technology candidate reported 14 written responses plus 16 multiple-choice items).

UK students follow a different pipeline that does not use HireVue: an online application, the ~60-minute EY One assessment (scenario-based, no calculations), a 20-minute numerical reasoning test, then a Job Simulation whose video section must be completed in one sitting — prep sources describe about 14 scenario questions mixing ranking, short written-email and recorded video tasks, with around 2 minutes of prep and up to 2 minutes per video answer. Shortlisted candidates attend an in-person Experience Day before final interviews on some programmes.

In Canada, campus applicants submit an application video via an emailed link on EY's Yello careers platform as part of the application package (résumé, cover letter, transcript and video), followed by in-person or virtual interviews with decisions within a few weeks of the final round. Experienced hires globally see a combination of in-person, phone and video interviews, with on-demand HireVue rounds widely reported at this level too, and occasionally a written or online assessment before offer.
