Take the Lion mock interviewHow the Lion hiring process works
Lion's careers site sets out a seven-step hiring process: submit your application (CV or LinkedIn profile plus a few details), then for many roles a digital interview on the HireVue platform, which depending on the role involves recording one-way video responses, completing gamified assessments, or both. Some roles add a "career conversation" phone chat with a Talent Partner, followed by an online assessment stage, interviews with the Hiring Leader and team, pre-employment checks (reference, medical, criminal and/or qualification checks depending on the role), and finally the offer and onboarding.
The one-way video interview can be completed at a time convenient to you, and Lion officially advises logging in early to test the platform before recording. Candidate reports describe roughly one minute of preparation per question and the option to re-record each answer once, with unlimited time to prepare before the retake — though employers configure these settings, and Lion publishes no question count or deadline, so expect variation by requisition. Lion says first-round interview questions cover your skills, experience and career aspirations plus behavioural questions, and officially recommends the STAR framework; if a role requires a second stage, it may involve presenting back on a case study or a role-play scenario in a live setting.
Lion states it works with two online assessment providers, and depending on the role you may face an on-demand video interview, gamified cognitive assessments, personality questionnaires, competencies/traits/drivers assessments, or traditional online cognitive tests. The gamified cognitive assessments are delivered inside the same HireVue digital-interview step; the second assessment provider is not publicly named. Lion's FAQ notes AI may be used for assessment scoring but states that all selection decisions are made by humans.
For the Lion Graduate Program, candidates selected to progress receive an email with a link to record video responses to a set of questions, completed at a time that suits them, with online assessments drawing on gamified and cognitive ability tests and an assessment centre as the final stage. Reported end-to-end timelines vary widely, from about one week to around six weeks, with Glassdoor's reported average around 31 days.
