What to expect in the Lion assessment

Lion confirms possible gamified cognitive assessment, but does not publish a named game set.

Good to know: Match practice to the task description. A video invitation alone does not tell you which additional exercises, if any, are included.

The Lion video interview: researched questions

Our Lion question set supports preparation for the video interview stages described in this guide. Each question is labeled by its evidence: officially published, candidate-reported, or a practice question written for this company or role. Use the timed mock to practice answering aloud.

  1. 1Tell me something about yourself — why are you leaving your current role?Reported by a candidate
  2. 2Demonstrate a time you've gone above and beyond your current role.Reported by a candidate

Which Lion roles and programs does this guide cover?

This guide concerns Lion’s beverage business, headquartered in Sydney and founded in New Zealand. Its careers site identifies it as part of Kirin and describes work across brewing, sales, marketing and corporate functions. It does not concern unrelated employers with Lion in their name.

Choose preparation from two inputs: the assessment invitation and the responsibilities of the job. Familiarity with an online interface helps with delivery, while understanding the work helps you choose evidence that is relevant to the hiring team. Keep these preparation tasks separate in your schedule.

Manufacturing and supply chain

Lion describes careers in brewing and packaging, engineering, trades, quality, logistics and warehousing. Its technical work includes product lines, technology and emissions improvements. Prepare around the actual function and site rather than a generic beverage-company story.

Sales and customer service

The sales page distinguishes account management, field relationships and commercial strategy. Strategy work includes category, channel, revenue and portfolio decisions. These roles call for different examples from a production or maintenance position.

How to prepare for the Lion assessment process

Use the exercises below to make your examples specific to beverages, customers or operations. They are original preparation suggestions and do not claim to reproduce Lion’s assessment questions.

1. Prepare a customer decision with numbers

For sales or account work, choose a real example involving demand, availability, service or margin. State the customer’s objective, the options you compared and the outcome. If you practice a fictional product launch, define the measure of success before recommending an action.

2. Explain a quality or reliability improvement

For production, maintenance or logistics, describe a recurring problem and how you investigated it. Distinguish symptoms from causes, explain who you involved and show how you checked the change. Include the effect on the next team in the process, not only your immediate task.

3. Turn consumer insight into a testable idea

For marketing or innovation, practice explaining a target audience, the evidence of its needs and the hypothesis behind a proposed action. Choose a sensible experiment and success measure. Show how an unfavorable result would change the recommendation rather than defending the idea at all costs.

4. Rehearse a concise personal contribution

Record a short answer about a disagreement or demanding deadline. Check that the listener can identify your decision, the reason for it and the outcome. Replace vague statements about what everyone did with a clear account of your own contribution and what you learned.

5. Practice the confirmed interaction

For a recorded response, use the platform’s practice area and check sound and framing before starting. For a case or role-play invitation, read the brief, identify the decision and rehearse responding to a changed constraint. Do not spend all your time polishing an opening that leaves no room for follow-up.

Lion assessment FAQ

Which Lion does this guide cover?

The Kirin-owned beverage employer with operations in Australia and New Zealand. Check the company name and careers domain if your invitation comes from another Lion business.

Does everyone receive the same games?

No common lineup is published. Use the invitation to identify the actual format before choosing practice.

Does AI make the hiring decision?

Lion says AI may assist assessment scoring, while selection decisions remain human.

What should a strong practice answer show?

A clear decision, your own actions, evidence of the result and a useful reflection. Choose an example related to the role rather than trying to sound like an advertisement for the company.

Can I request another format or accessibility support?

Use the adjustment question in the application form or raise your need with the Talent Partner before the affected stage. Discuss the specific obstacle and support you need.
