How the PwC hiring process works

In the UK, PwC's early-careers hiring process runs through a fixed set of stages hosted largely on the SHL platform. You apply online once per intake year — applications open 1 October and roles fill on a rolling basis — then take a two-part online assessment: an untimed behavioural test followed by a timed cognitive assessment covering numerical, inductive, and deductive reasoning, with practice tests offered beforehand. PwC says you'll be contacted within 48 hours of finishing, and candidates often report hearing back the same day. Pass, and you're invited to an on-demand video interview, also on SHL: questions appear on screen, your answers are recorded and reviewed afterwards, the expected duration is one hour, and you have one week to complete it. Graduate applicants then move to a virtual assessment centre (typically run November to April, alongside up to five other candidates), job matching to a business area and office (December to May), and finally a business assessment — an in-person interview with a senior leader in your matched office (January to May). Offers only go out once PwC has completed all the business assessments for the role you've been matched to.

Not every UK programme runs the full five stages. Internship, entry-level, Flying Start, and undergraduate placement applicants finish at the assessment centre — there is no business assessment — and first-year diversity programmes such as Women in Business end after the video interview itself. On format, candidates report that the current SHL video interview asks around four "tell us about a time when..." questions with two minutes of preparation, a five-minute answer window, and no re-records; the official one-hour figure includes time for getting set up on the platform, and reports vary, so treat your own invitation email as the source of truth. If you've read older guides describing PwC's Career Unlocked games or the Career Conversation video interview, that flow has been retired — the current UK process runs on SHL end to end. Two more things worth knowing: waits after the video interview can stretch for weeks because assessment centres are batched across the winter, and PwC states that it compares video-interview responses and checks whether transcripts are identical across candidates, so scripted or copied answers are a disqualification risk.

PwC Canada's campus process for co-op students, interns, and new grads starts with campus events and an online application — a resume or CACEE form plus your most recent unofficial transcript, with no cover letter — during two recruiting windows: March to May in the spring and August to October in the fall. PwC's official step list jumps straight from application to a final interview, but its own FAQ confirms that campus candidates complete an on-demand video interview and games, after which an automatically generated candidate feedback report is emailed to you; PwC Canada runs this stage through its own branded HireVue portal. Candidate reports place the HireVue video-and-games round between the application and the live interview, though PwC notes that steps may differ depending on the role. The final interview takes place in a PwC office or on campus and centres on behavioural questions — think STAR-method answers mapped to the PwC Professional framework — before the offer.

For experienced hires in Canada, the published process is four steps: online application, an on-demand HireVue video interview, a live interview (virtual or in person) scheduled with Talent Acquisition, and the offer. The HireVue round mixes behavioural, technical, and situational questions posed in pre-recorded videos by PwC staff, and the platform provides practice questions whose answers PwC never sees. The one exception is at Senior Manager level and above, where a live preliminary video interview with a Talent Acquisition Specialist replaces the on-demand format. Whichever Canadian funnel you're in, you choose English or French (Canada) at application and complete the entire process, video answers included, in that language. Timing data is thin — PwC publishes no turnaround commitments for Canada — but Glassdoor aggregates suggest roughly 24 days end to end on average and closer to eight days for intern roles, and at least one candidate has reported a next-day deadline — check your invitation's deadline as soon as it arrives.
