Can You Practice pymetrics Games? What Our Data Shows

By the Game Assessment Prep research teamUpdated September 24, 2026How we research

Yes. pymetrics measures behavioral traits and tells candidates there are no right or wrong answers, but the games still reward knowing how they work. On our pymetrics games practice, players typically score 14% higher by their fifth attempt than on their first. Most of the gain comes from understanding each game's structure, and it arrives within a few short runs.

What changes with practice

pymetrics compares how you play with a profile built for the role. Practice doesn't change your traits. It removes the confusion that makes a first run unrepresentative: misreading instructions, reacting to the controls instead of the task, or discovering a game's structure halfway through.

Which games improve most

Fifth attempt compared with a typical first attempt, on our simulations:

GameGainWhat gets easier
Balloons+35%Learning which balloon colors pop early
Cards+26%Spotting which decks pay off over time
Lengths+23%Telling the short and long mouths apart quickly
Arrows+12%Switching between the color rules
Towers+8%Planning moves before you start
Keypresses+7%Pacing your tapping
Stop+1%Nothing much: one run teaches the controls

The games are short, so a few minutes per game covers five runs.

How to use your practice time

  1. Play all twelve games once so nothing in the real battery is new.
  2. Replay Balloons, Cards and Lengths until you understand their structure.
  3. Take the real assessment in one sitting, on the device your invitation recommends.

For every assessment we cover, see Does practice help on game-based assessments?

How we measure

We compare every later attempt with the same player's first attempt at the same game and report the median change; the table uses the stricter comparison against a typical first attempt. Details are on our methodology page.

Frequently asked questions

Can you practice pymetrics games?

Yes. The real games are only available in your assessment, but practicing close simulations teaches each game’s structure. Our players typically score 14% higher by their fifth attempt.

Is practicing pymetrics cheating?

No. Practicing similar games teaches the formats. It doesn’t give you answers, because pymetrics scores how you play, not a right answer.

Which pymetrics games improve most with practice?

Balloons, Cards and Lengths improve most on our simulations. Stop barely changes after the first run.
