Patterns
Patterns is Arctic Shores’ multiple-choice abstract-reasoning task: each item shows a sequence of squares whose shapes evolve by hidden rules — count, position, size, colour, rotation — and you select the next square from the options. Items often run several concurrent rules, one per shape, so each shape must be tracked separately.
How to Play
Three squares show a sequence; work out the rules that drive it.
Pick the fourth square from five options — only one satisfies every rule.
Rules reset every item: no cross-item learning, unlike Predict or Balloon.
20 items under a single 17-minute clock — pace yourself.
In the real assessment
The 20-round / 17-minute configuration is confirmed by multiple independent preparation sources. Note that employers configure the assessment and this task does not always appear in every battery.
