Alfa Laval’s pymetrics Assessment: What Alfa Laval Actually Says

Does Alfa Laval use pymetrics? Yes — named by Alfa Laval itself

Alfa Laval’s own careers site states that it applies pymetrics assessments at the start of most of its recruitment processes, and that on applying you might be asked to play the assessment games; the specific games Alfa Laval configures are not published. This is unusually direct for an employer — most companies never name the vendor — and the same paragraph appears in Alfa Laval’s own job postings, not only graduate ones. What Alfa Laval has never published is which games it runs, so anyone telling you the exact Alfa Laval battery is guessing. Practice the standard pymetrics battery, then follow whatever your invitation email names.

How the Alfa Laval process works

Alfa Laval publishes a global six-step "How we hire" process, and its Workday postings add per-program dates. Everything below comes from Alfa Laval’s own pages and postings unless labeled otherwise:

  1. 1

Online application through Alfa Laval’s Workday site

Apply at career.alfalaval.com / Alfa Laval’s Workday portal only; emailed applications are not considered. Graduate programs ask for a CV, a cover letter and a degree certificate or transcript in English. For the Stockholm Graduate Program 2027, an application missing a document is automatically rejected and cannot be edited after submission.

  2. 2

pymetrics assessment games, usually on application

Alfa Laval says it applies pymetrics "at the start of most of our recruitment processes" and that "upon application you might be asked to play the assessment games." Several postings — the US Career Pathways cohort, the Lund Talent Program 2026, the Lund Energy graduate program — call completion mandatory. Not every posting mentions them: the Stockholm Graduate Program 2027 posting omits the paragraph entirely. Alfa Laval does not publish which games it configures.

  3. 3

    Rolling application review

For the Stockholm Graduate Program 2027, reviews "begin immediately upon submission" from August 2026 and a decision, including a rejection, can be communicated the same day. Alfa Laval’s process page likewise tells candidates to apply sooner rather than later because process times vary.

  4. 4

Exploration call with a talent acquisition partner

A video or telephone call covering your background and aspirations, and the role, team and company. In the Stockholm graduate program this is the "Screening" step, scheduled for December 2026 in the current cycle.

  5. 5

Further assessments or a case study (program-dependent)

Later in the process Alfa Laval "might also apply further assessments including personality questionnaires, ability tests and business cases." The Stockholm Graduate Program 2027 schedules a case study in January 2027. Which programs use ability tests, and which vendor supplies them, is not published.

  6. 6

    Structured interviews

Structured interviewing with open-ended questions, typically with the hiring manager plus one or two other stakeholders. The final interview is with the hiring manager’s manager and is meant to assess your potential to grow within Alfa Laval. Reasonable accommodations are offered on request, including readers, sign language interpreters, modified equipment or extended time. For the Stockholm graduate program, final selection is scheduled for February 2027.

  7. 7

    Decision, offer, checks and onboarding

Alfa Laval aims to communicate a decision and feedback within a few days of the final interview, longer when several candidates are competing. Reference and background checks follow local practice, then onboarding begins once the offer is accepted.

What’s verified — and what’s folklore

Most prep guides state everything with equal confidence. We label every claim with where it comes from, so you can tell Alfa Laval’s own words from prep-industry consensus and forum rumor. Read how the labels work in our research methodology.

Alfa Laval names the vendor itself: it applies "Pymetrics assessments at the start of most of our recruitment processes, and upon application you might be asked to play the assessment games."

"Most" is not "all": the Stockholm Graduate Program 2027 posting (JR0046715) contains no pymetrics mention at all, while the US Career Pathways posting (JR0047864) says "upon application you will be invited to play the assessment games." Whether the Stockholm program sends the games is unresolved.

The US Career Pathways Program Associate posting (2027-2028 cohort) states applicants "will be invited to play the assessment games": a 10-month program beginning August 2027, $77,000 base, minimum 3.0 GPA, up to 50% travel, posted 2026-09-03 with no closing date.

Closed 2026-cycle postings that did name mandatory pymetrics games: the Lund Talent Program 2026 Engineering track ("Completion of Pymetrics assessment games is a mandatory part of our recruitment process," deadline 2026-02-15) and the Lund Technology Development Graduate Program, Energy Division (15 months, 5 positions, deadline 2025-12-12).

The UK & Ireland graduate route also named pymetrics: the 2025-intake Graduate Product and Application Engineer posting (Camberley, 18 months, minimum 2:1, rotation across the Marine and Energy divisions) listed the assessment games. No 2026 UK graduate posting was open on Workday as of 2026-09-11.

A single 2016 campus report (Solapur, India) described a 60-minute written aptitude test of 60 questions — 20 English, 20 logical reasoning, 20 quantitative — then a technical interview on manufacturing topics and an HR round. This is one dated report and may no longer reflect how Alfa Laval hires graduate trainee engineers in India.

What changed recently

As of 2026-09-11 only two early-career programs are open on Alfa Laval’s Workday site: the Stockholm Graduate Program 2027 (deadline 2026-11-30) and the US Career Pathways 2027-2028 cohort (no closing date stated). Every other program below is a closed cycle.

Effective 2026-01-01 Alfa Laval renamed two divisions: Marine became Ocean, and Food & Water became Food & Pharma. That is why the 2027 program names differ from the 2025 and 2026 ones — it is a rename, not a new program.

No 2027 posting for any of them had appeared on Workday as of 2026-09-11; a similar early-year window is an estimate, not an announced date.

What candidates report

Candidate-report sites (Glassdoor, Indeed, Prosple) carry Alfa Laval interview reports, but all of them blocked retrieval, so nothing from them is repeated here. If you see an "Alfa Laval games list" on a prep site, ask where it came from — we could not find a verified one.

Glassdoor and Indeed returned HTTP 403 on 2026-09-11

Alfa Laval runs different early-career routes per country and they do not share a process: Sweden has the flagship Graduate Program (Stockholm and Lund) plus the Lund Talent Program for 2nd and 3rd-year bachelor students, Denmark a 2-year Søborg trainee program, the US the Career Pathways Program, India a 12-month Young Talent Program / Graduate Trainee Engineer route, South East Asia a 12-month Graduate Trainee Program, and Australia a Graduate Engineer Program currently shown as closed. Read your own program’s posting rather than another country’s.

Alfa Laval early-in-career pages by region

The Lund Talent Program is a long-horizon route rather than a single hire: students return for successive summer placements, progressing from production to project work, with a thesis collaboration and a mentor. Alfa Laval’s own 2023 story describes seven participants at the time, one of whom was hired as a development engineer.

Alfa Laval — "Sourcing talent for the future" (2023-11-28)

Swedish trainee directories carry Alfa Laval graduate entries with deadlines that contradict Alfa Laval’s own postings (for example an August date against the official November 30 one). Those look like listing-expiry artifacts. Take dates from the Workday posting you are applying through, never from a directory.

Alfa Laval pymetrics FAQ

Does Alfa Laval use pymetrics in 2026?

Yes, and Alfa Laval says so itself. Its "How we hire" page states it applies pymetrics assessments at the start of most of its recruitment processes and that upon application you might be asked to play the assessment games. The same paragraph appears in Alfa Laval’s own job postings in September 2026, including experienced-hire roles outside Europe, so this is current rather than historical.

Which pymetrics games does Alfa Laval use?

Alfa Laval has never published its battery, and no verified candidate report names it, so we will not invent a list. What is known is the vendor: pymetrics ships a standard set of short behavioral games covering effort and reward, risk taking, attention, memory, emotion recognition, learning and fairness. Practicing that full standard battery is the safe preparation, and your invitation email is the only authority on what you will actually be sent.

When in the Alfa Laval process do the games arrive?

On application, when they are sent. Alfa Laval applies them "at the start of most of our recruitment processes," and postings such as the US Career Pathways cohort say you will be invited to play upon applying. Several postings call completion mandatory. Note the exception: the Stockholm Graduate Program 2027 posting does not mention pymetrics at all, so for that program the games are covered only by the company-wide "most of our recruitment processes" wording.

What happens after the games?

Alfa Laval reviews applications on a rolling basis, then runs an exploration call with a talent acquisition partner about your background and the role. Later stages "might also apply further assessments including personality questionnaires, ability tests and business cases" — Alfa Laval does not say which programs get those or who supplies them. Then come structured, open-ended interviews with the hiring manager plus one or two stakeholders, and a final interview with the hiring manager’s manager focused on your potential to grow. Alfa Laval aims to give a decision and feedback within a few days of that final interview.

Which Alfa Laval graduate programs are open right now?

As of September 11, 2026, two: the Stockholm Graduate Program 2027 for the Food & Pharma Division, a 13-month program starting September 2027 with a November 30, 2026 deadline and a December screening, January case study and February final selection; and the US Career Pathways Program Associate 2027-2028 cohort, a 10-month program beginning August 2027 across five US sites, posted September 3, 2026 with no closing date. The Lund Talent Program, the Lund Energy graduate program and the UK & Ireland Graduate Programme are all between cycles.

Can I fail the Alfa Laval assessment games?

Alfa Laval’s own wording is that the results "are not right or wrong" and are used to give insight into your suitability for a role — pymetrics measures behavioral traits against a role profile rather than marking answers. What genuinely hurts candidates is meeting the format for the first time under timer pressure and misreading an instruction screen. That is the fixable part: play each game once beforehand so nothing about the mechanics is new.

Ready before the invitation arrives

Play the full 12-game pymetrics battery with honest per-game feedback, then use the dedicated guides to review mechanics and focused strategies before your real assessment.
