IBM names four assessment families and no vendor
Official sourceIBM's process page names exactly three: a coding assessment ("a set of multiple-choice questions or coding challenges"), a video assessment ("Answer a series of interview questions using your webcam and microphone") and an English language assessment ("Respond to multiple-choice questions in a text-based format"). The assessment FAQ adds "IBM work behaviours assessments" as a fourth. IBM's own framing is that "We might ask you to complete one or two assessments, which can vary depending on your role" — so most candidates sit a subset, not all four. No IBM page names a single assessment vendor.

Seven days from the invitation — the only hard deadline IBM publishes
Official sourceIBM's assessment FAQ: "it's important to complete your assessments within 7 days of receiving the invite, as this will allow us to move forward with your application in a timely manner." IBM also advises checking whether each assessment is timed and completing it in one sitting, mentions that practice runs may be available, and says reasonable accommodations can be requested through the email or form in the invitation.

The video assessment runs on an IBM-branded HireVue portal
Multiple sourcesIBM confirms the stage but not the platform. The candidate login page at ibmglobal.hirevue.com is a live HireVue tenant titled "IBM Digital Interviews", carrying IBM-authored recruitment copy ("Join IBM. Your ideas matter here."), IBM logo assets and links to IBM's own LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and X accounts; candidates log in with an interview code from their invitation email. Taken with IBM's own webcam-and-microphone stage, this is strong evidence — but IBM itself never says "HireVue", so the attribution is ours, shown here so you can judge it. Every candidate account we found describes recorded question-and-answer video only; none describes HireVue game-based assessments at IBM.

The games round: reported for India campus drives, vendor unconfirmed
Single sourceMultiple India campus candidate reports describe a roughly 30-minute round of five or six timed mental-ability games with no conventional questions; one fetched report names the six individual games. Prep sites identify the battery as Criteria's Cognify. That attribution does not stand up on its own evidence: IBM has never named a games assessment or a vendor, and Criteria's own Cognify page names neither IBM nor any of its individual games — it says only that the assessment "features three highly engaging and interactive games", with "a six-game version also available on request". So the vendor behind IBM's reported games is unconfirmed, and the Cognify label is prep-site convention rather than a sourced fact.

Whether the games round still runs is genuinely contested
Multiple sourcesThis is the most important caveat on the page. A 2026-batch India prep syllabus marks both the cognitive ability games and the psychometric/learning-agility section "NOT ASKED ANYMORE" and gives the current pattern as coding plus English, then group discussion, then technical and HR interviews. An August 2025 first-person report from a Coimbatore on-campus drive shows exactly that: a games-free, coding-only funnel. Other prep sites still list the games. IBM has never mentioned games at all. Do not plan your preparation around the games round unless your invitation names it.

The coding assessment: platform is candidate-reported, not IBM-stated
Single sourceIBM describes the coding assessment but does not name a platform. IBM's own page mentions HackerRank only in a list of places to practice, alongside LeetCode and Pramp — which is advice, not a vendor statement. One fetched India candidate report describes the coding round running on HackerRank, at roughly 90 minutes with SQL (GROUP BY, ORDER BY, HAVING), a hollow-square pattern problem and a data-structure question. A separate August 2025 report describes a one-hour virtual round (greedy, max-heap) and a 75-minute in-person round four days later, and names no platform. Treat the coding platform as reported and unconfirmed.

The "work behaviours" assessment is forced choice, and IBM names nothing behind it
Official sourceIBM's FAQ describes the format without naming it: "If you encounter a scenario where you're asked to pick between two statements, don't worry — this is a normal part of the assessments. Simply choose the statement that you agree with slightly more." IBM adds that you should go "with your first reaction wherever possible". Prep sites attribute this to a specific vendor questionnaire, but forced-choice statement pairs are used by many instruments and are not diagnostic of any one of them, and no source we could verify identifies a vendor. There is nothing to practice here beyond answering consistently and quickly.

The English language assessment is a separate thing from the reported Proof It game
Official sourceIBM's own English language assessment is text-based multiple choice on English proficiency. India candidate reports describe roughly 10-15 minutes on grammar, vocabulary, error spotting, synonyms and antonyms and comprehension, with negative marking in at least one report. Do not confuse it with Proof It, the reported spelling-and-grammar game inside the games round — candidates who sat both describe them as separate sections.

IBM stores your recordings and webcam photos
Official sourceIBM's applicant data privacy statement confirms that video-enabled assessment recordings may be stored, and that coding assessments store both the submitted code and "one or more webcam photos of you completing the exercises". IBM says it processes candidate data "using tools developed by IBM and third parties" without naming them, and that its AI use in talent acquisition is for pre-employment verification checks and "will not be used to substantially assist or replace discretionary employment decisions". Sit the coding assessment somewhere you would not mind being photographed.

IBM refuses to publish an end-to-end timeline
Official sourceIBM: "How long the selection process takes depends on many different factors like which role you are applying to, how fast the applicant responds to specific questions after submitting their CV, the number of applications that our recruiters receive, and more, so there is no overall timeframe we can share." Any "IBM takes 3-6 weeks" or "about 30 days" figure you find comes from prep sites and aggregated review data, not from IBM.

IBM has an explicit candidate AI policy
Official sourceIBM publishes what is and is not allowed. Using AI to help articulate your experience in an application is "Encouraged". Using AI during live interviews or real-time assessments, misrepresenting AI-generated work as your own, inventing qualifications, or impersonating someone else "may result in disqualification from the recruitment process". Practice with whatever tools you like; sit the real assessment alone.
