What to expect in the Elm assessment

Elm confirms game-inspired screening but leaves the game names unspecified. Developer candidates have a separately named coding format.

Good to know: A coding platform, recorded interview and game-inspired task are distinct formats. Prepare for the combination in your invitation instead of treating every stage as the same test.

The Elm video interview: researched questions

Our Elm question set supports preparation for the video interview stages described in this guide. Each question is labeled by its evidence: officially published, candidate-reported, or a practice question written for this company or role. Use the timed mock to practice answering aloud.

  2. 2Complete the CodeVue coding test; CodeVue assessments can also append a recorded video question after the coding tasks.Officially published

Which Elm roles and programs does this guide cover?

Elm here means the Saudi company serving public- and private-sector organizations with digital products and services. It does not mean the Elm programming language or an unrelated recruiting platform. Confirm that your vacancy uses Elm’s official corporate or careers domain.

The assessment stage is only part of preparing well. A digital-services applicant should also be able to connect a technical or business decision to the people using the service. Prepare a clear example of an improvement, how you measured it and what constraints shaped the result.

Graduates and training

The careers landing page separates fresh-graduate opportunities from co-op and training opportunities. Choose the matching track and use its vacancy criteria; the page does not establish identical assessments or annual deadlines for both.

Experienced professionals and developers

Elm’s application guidance asks candidates to connect experience, project results and leadership scope to the actual vacancy. Prepare evidence for the role rather than relying on a general profile.

Digital-services context

Elm describes work across consulting, technology, training and digital support for public- and private-sector customers. This provides a useful basis for explaining why a specific product, team or user problem interests you.

When is the Elm assessment?

Do not confuse an interview update expectation with a promised offer date. Assessment deadlines come from the actual invitation.

How to prepare for the Elm assessment process

These are suggested practice exercises, not published Elm questions. Use the ones relevant to the role and stages in your invitation.

1. Build a service-improvement example

Choose a project that made a process easier, faster or more reliable for its users. Describe the original problem, who was affected, your contribution and the evidence of improvement. Include a limitation or tradeoff so the explanation shows judgment rather than only a positive result.

2. Practice concise experience answers

Use a situation, action and result structure for examples of collaboration, learning and problem solving. If you are a graduate, draw on academic work, volunteering or a personal project. Make your individual contribution clear and be ready to explain a decision in more detail.

3. Prepare developers’ technical explanations

Practice solving a small problem in the language named in your coding invitation. Explain assumptions, test edge cases and review the code for readability. Then rehearse discussing a real project’s architecture, a difficult defect and the tradeoff you made when fixing it.

4. Practice a business case only if relevant

Take a simple digital-service problem and produce a short recommendation: user need, evidence, alternatives, choice, risks and success measures. Keep assumptions visible. Practice presenting the recommendation aloud, then responding to a challenge about cost, feasibility or incomplete information.

5. Research the team and prepare useful questions

Identify what the advertised department does and how your work might reach a customer or user. Prepare questions about project ownership, success measures and collaboration with other functions. Check the invitation for equipment, language and timing before the assessment.

Elm assessment FAQ

Which Elm does this guide cover?

The Saudi digital-services company using elm.sa and career.elm.sa, with its principal office in Riyadh.

Does Elm use HireVue?

Elm explicitly names CodeVue for developers, and HireVue documents that product. The reviewed employer wording does not name HireVue as the platform for every video, game or personality stage.

Which games will I receive?

No named lineup is published in the reviewed Elm guidance. Use the actual invitation and any official demonstration rather than assuming another employer’s games.

Is a written case required for everyone?

Elm makes the case exercise dependent on the role. Prepare for it when the invitation specifies it.

Can I apply to several Elm roles?

The careers FAQ says the online profile supports multiple applications and status tracking. Tailor each application to the opening instead of submitting the same generic explanation.
