AstraZeneca confirms a game-based assessment is possible — and names no platform
Official sourceThe careers FAQ says: "For certain positions, particularly in graduate roles, we may invite you to take part in a game-based assessment, a video or telephone interview or an assessment day or a combination of all three." Every qualifier in that sentence matters. It is scoped to "certain positions", it is a "may", and the game-based assessment is one of three things that might be used in any combination. AstraZeneca does not name a vendor on this page or on any other page of its careers site.

That wording has been unchanged since roughly 2020, which cuts both ways
Official sourceThe sentence is absent from the September 2019 archived version of the FAQ and present from October 2020 onwards, still live today. So AstraZeneca has advertised a game-based option for around six years. But it has never once updated it to name a platform, and every candidate report since 2021 describes conventional testing instead. That pattern is consistent with a live stage used for a small number of roles — and equally consistent with legacy boilerplate. We cannot tell you which, and neither can any prep site claiming otherwise.

The apprenticeship route is specific, and it is not games
Official sourceAstraZeneca’s own description of its apprenticeship process states: "You will be invited to complete two assessments. There is a general ability assessment and also the situational judgement test." This is the most concrete assessment statement AstraZeneca publishes anywhere, and it describes a conventional ability test plus an SJT. If you are applying to an apprenticeship, this — not games — is what you should prepare for.

Graduate program pages say only "you may be asked to complete an online assessment"
Official sourceThe Engineering Graduate Programme page gives the fullest official stage description: "During the recruitment process, you may be asked to complete an online assessment. If shortlisted, you will then be invited to an interview day." The PT&D, R&D and Data Sciences & AI program pages give no selection detail at all. AstraZeneca’s application hints page adds only that it evaluates applications "with the most appropriate selection methods according to the skills and knowledge required for the role" — which is, in effect, a statement that the stages vary by role.

The only game platform a candidate ever named was pymetrics — in December 2019
Single sourceA Student Room thread titled "Graduate Application AstraZeneca online games (Pymetrics)", published 11 December 2019, contains a candidate writing: "Has any one completed the online games (pymetrics test) for AstraZeneca?" Read that carefully — it is a question, not a report of having sat them. We searched the full archived thread for every pymetrics game name and found none; no individual game is described anywhere. pymetrics was acquired by Harver in August 2022, and no candidate has named a game vendor for AstraZeneca since. This is historical context, not a description of a current stage, and it is far too thin to build practice around.

The most recent cognitive-test evidence points to SHL, for one US program
Single sourceA candidate posted on Blind on 23 August 2022: "I just completed my SHL assessment for an AstraZeneca biopharmaceutical associate program. I received a medium fit for the position with an A in inductive reasoning, B in deductive, and C in numerical." That is a real, dated, first-person report — but it is one report, for one US program, and AstraZeneca never names SHL on any of its own pages. It is not evidence that SHL is AstraZeneca’s provider for UK graduate roles or anywhere else. It does tell you that banded inductive, deductive and numerical reasoning is a format worth being ready for. No games were mentioned.

The video interview platform is not confirmed, and the usual claim does not hold up
Single sourceAstraZeneca’s FAQ lists "a video or telephone interview" as a possible stage but never names a platform, and its interview guidance page says only that assessment events can be in person or virtual. Prep sites widely claim HireVue. We checked the one candidate post those claims usually trace to and it is a candidate asking "Anyone had a video interview at AstraZeneca for entry-level roles?" in November 2022 — the platform name appears in the URL, not in the post or its replies. Nobody has confirmed which platform AstraZeneca uses.

The values interview is the best-documented stage by a wide margin
Official sourceAstraZeneca publishes a Values Preparation Guide for candidates on its own CDN, and it is unusually detailed. It names the five values and their paired behaviors, states that "We will spend approximately 10 minutes for each Value and Behaviour", sets out the ATOLA answer model (Action, Thinking, Outcome, Learnings, Application), gives a recency rule for examples, warns that you may be asked about failures as well as successes, and lists example questions. If you prepare one thing for AstraZeneca, prepare this.

AI is allowed for preparation and banned during the live stages
Official sourceAstraZeneca’s candidate guidance on AI use permits AI for preparation — refining your CV, practicing questions — and explicitly prohibits "Generating real-time answers during interviews, assessments or live conversations", as well as using "transcription or recording tools (including automated or AI-based meeting transcribers) during interviews without prior notification". Practice with whatever tools you like; sit the real thing unaided.

Feedback timing, and travel
Official sourceThe FAQ says: "If your application has reached the interview stage or beyond, you will usually receive feedback within 14 days from the closing date for the role. We are unable to provide feedback to candidates who have been rejected prior to an interview." For apprenticeships AstraZeneca adds an update within two weeks of the advert closing date, an assessment-day outcome within seven days, and an email one week before the assessment date. Interview travel over 100km is reimbursed, which tells you some assessment days are genuinely in person.

Stages diverge by program and region — do not assume one process
Official sourceApprenticeships use a general ability test plus an SJT. The one India campus account describes 55 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes followed by technical and HR interviews, with no vendor and no games. The game-based option is scoped by AstraZeneca to "certain positions, particularly in graduate roles". Sweden, Poland, Spain, Canada, Mexico, China and the Alexion pipeline are unexamined here. The advert and the invitation email are the only documents that describe your process.
