The Société Générale hiring process at a glance

  1. 1Application and scope check — Identify the recruiting entity, location and contract type.
  2. 2Online tests where specified — The French central-function guide and VIE route include testing. What the test evidence establishes
  3. 3Manager or specialist interviews — Interview arrangements depend on the mission and role.
  4. 4Program-specific assessment or final steps — Some graduate programs use a case assessment; other routes move toward offer and administration.

What to expect in the Société Générale assessment

The strongest evidence is for preselection tests, including English and logic in the VIE route. It is not enough to attach a particular proprietary game or reasoning-test edition to all Société Générale candidates.

Good to know: General reasoning practice can be useful if your invitation includes logic, but this page does not claim an exact simulator. A case study, a language assessment and a technical interview require different preparation.

Which Société Générale roles and programs does this guide cover?

An internship, international VIE assignment and quantitative analyst position call for different preparation. Société Générale’s published pathways help explain why candidates receive different invitations.

Use the vacancy and invitation first, then the relevant program page. A group-level overview may omit tests listed in a more specific country document.

Paris Global Banking and Advisory graduate program

This two-year program comprises three eight-month rotations. The published 2026 selection event involved a case study and interviews, and registration is now shown as closed. These details belong to that program and cycle.

Quantitative analyst roles

The role page describes an initial exchange and online tests before meetings with operational and HR teams. It emphasizes applied mathematics, programming and finance; a general graduate logic test is not a substitute for role knowledge.

How does the Société Générale assessment work?

A general internship overview is less specific

Official source

The English internship page describes shortlisting, manager interviews and an offer. It explicitly says the process can vary with recruiting entity, assignment type and duration. Read this alongside, rather than as a replacement for, the French preselection document.

Technical skill requirements are role-specific

Official source

The quantitative analyst page emphasizes model development, testing, object-oriented programming and communication in English. This identifies useful preparation areas; it does not publish a complete quantitative interview syllabus or live questions.

Vendor, games and pass marks remain unspecified

No evidence found

The reviewed sources do not establish a company-wide test supplier, named game battery, passing score or common retake policy. Match any provider-specific practice to the label in your own invitation.

What happens in the Société Générale hiring process?

How the general internship route is presented

Société Générale’s English internship overview gives a broad sequence and explicitly allows local differences.

  1. 1Recruitment teams shortlist the online application against initial requirements.
  2. 2One or several managers responsible for the assignment conduct the interview.
  3. 3Successful interviews can lead to an offer. Check the local application instructions for any testing stages omitted from this high-level overview.

VIE: selection and departure are separate steps

The VIE page connects recruitment with the administration of an international assignment.

  1. 1Check the eligibility requirements and apply to the specific assignment.
  2. 2The published route includes online tests and a manager interview.
  3. 3If selected, complete the Business France formalities and any required visa steps before departure. An interview outcome is not the same as being ready to travel.

When is the Société Générale assessment?

Treat past program calendars as dated evidence, not current openings. The time needed to finalize a contract is also different from an assessment invitation’s expiry.

The French process PDF gives an average of 4–8 weeks including contract signature for internships and work-study. It does not apply that estimate to every VIE or permanent role.

How to prepare for the Société Générale assessment process

Translate the vacancy into an evidence plan: its central tasks, the skills they need and one example demonstrating each skill. Practice in the language or languages specified by the invitation.

1. Build a scope checklist

Record the entity, country, contract, business area and program cycle. Save the invitation’s assessment labels and deadlines. This prevents an internship guide, a VIE description or an older graduate calendar from silently becoming your assumed process.

2. Practice reasoning with explicit assumptions

If logic is listed, work through unfamiliar practice problems and write down why a rule fits before choosing an answer. Check competing explanations instead of relying on visual resemblance. Review errors by type: misunderstood instruction, missed condition or calculation mistake.

3. Prepare an English explanation

Choose a project you know well and explain its purpose, your contribution and the result without specialist shorthand. Then summarize a short business article and separate its evidence from your opinion. These are suggested exercises, not confirmed language-test tasks.

4. Rehearse the role’s central decision

Banking candidates can analyze a hypothetical company’s financing need, risks and supporting data. Quantitative candidates can explain a model’s assumptions, tests and limitations. State what would change your conclusion rather than presenting a single answer as certain.

5. Make manager interviews concrete

Prepare examples of collaboration, solving an unfamiliar problem and correcting an error. Include what you would do differently. Develop questions about the assignment’s deliverables, the skills you would use most and how your work would be reviewed.

Société Générale assessment FAQ

Are the same three tests used worldwide?

That is not established. The three-test PDF is scoped to French central-function internships, work-study and VIE. Other Société Générale pages describe different routes.

Which assessment provider does Société Générale use?

The official sources reviewed do not name a universal vendor. Use the assessment title and provider in your invitation before choosing a specific practice product.

Is the suggested hour a strict test timer?

No. The French PDF advises allowing an hour for the preselection tests. It does not publish separate timers, so read the actual test instructions.

Does every graduate candidate attend an assessment center?

No universal rule is established. The Paris Global Banking and Advisory page documents a case study and interviews for its 2026 campaign; other programs require their own confirmation.

How should quantitative applicants prepare?

Connect mathematical and programming knowledge to model assumptions, validation and financial use. Practice explaining both a technical solution and its limitations, using the vacancy to set the depth.
