UK course route: apply, complete online aptitude and numeracy tests plus psychometric questionnaires, then a roughly 45-minute competency interview on Teams.
The UK guide lists possible tests of monitoring, applied mathematics, numerical reasoning, reaction speed, directional awareness and multitasking.
British Airways Speedbird candidates are pointed to Aon online testing; IndiGo cadets in India take a Symbiotics assessment, group discussion and IndiGo interview.
UK Integrated ATPL applications are continuously open with starts in alternate months, and a selection pass stays valid for 18 months.
The Skyborne hiring process at a glance
1UK course application — Apply for the chosen training programme and check its entry requirements.
2UK online assessment — Complete aptitude and numeracy tests plus psychometric questionnaires.
3UK selection interview — Attend the online competency interview; successful selection leads to a conditional course place.
4Other routes — IndiGo cadets and Skyborne employees follow the separate processes described below.
For an Aon invitation, practice interpreting instructions and unfamiliar task types. Knowing the provider does not reveal the exact assigned exercises.

Skyborne directs Speedbird candidates to Aon preparation, and its UK guide lists numerical reasoning among the possible aptitude areas. Practice it on our Aon numerical reasoning test.
Good to know: Skyborne does not name its Aon tests. IndiGo applicants should follow their program’s current instructions.
Which Skyborne roles and programs does this guide cover?
Identify whether you applied for a training place, an airline-linked cadet programme or an employment vacancy. Each route has different decision-makers and outcomes.
UK Integrated ATPL
The course FAQ confirms an aptitude test and recruitment-team interview, plus course-specific result validity and feedback.
Skyborne’s Speedbird FAQ explicitly identifies Aon online testing. It distinguishes Pilot Academy and Self-Sponsored Pathway information; airline selection requirements need their own preparation.
Employee recruitment normally starts with application review and an informal conversation, followed by an onsite manager-and-team interview. Skyborne says arrangements vary by vacancy and location.
The UK guide lists possible tests of monitoring, applied mathematics, numerical reasoning, reaction speed, directional awareness and multitasking. It does not promise every applicant an identical set.
The UK guide describes approximately 45 minutes with an assessor on Teams. Prepare recent examples of motivation, accountability and resilience, organised using STAR.
The India FAQ also retains a cut-e/Aon practice link, but says those examples are not the actual tests. Its explicit stage description names Symbiotics; follow the programme invitation.
The employee careers page does not establish a universal aptitude vendor, test duration or passing score. An applicant should not assume the cadet battery applies to an instructor or support vacancy.
Use the actual job description to choose evidence. The maintenance vacancy, for example, emphasises aircraft upkeep, accurate records and communication.
1Match your experience to the essential qualifications.
2Prepare an example of diagnosing a problem and documenting the action taken.
3Explain how you maintain safety and coordinate with colleagues under operational pressure.
Course availability, selection validity and an invitation deadline are different dates. Keep them separate when planning your application.

How to prepare for the Skyborne assessment process
Choose preparation by route, then divide your time between task familiarity and evidence for discussion. The following are practice suggestions, not predicted questions.
1. Create a route checklist
Record the programme, country, airline partner and intended start. Check these against each preparation document before relying on it.
2. Review numerical work deliberately
Practice interpreting quantities and checking units. Track whether errors come from arithmetic, reading or rushing, then repeat your weakest skill.
3. Prepare examples you can explain
Choose occasions when you accepted responsibility, recovered from a setback or learned something difficult. Explain your decisions and results without memorising a speech.
4. Rehearse collaborative discussion
For a group stage, practice contributing clearly, acknowledging another view and summarising a decision. Give others room to contribute.
No universal Aon requirement is established. Speedbird guidance names Aon; the IndiGo cadet FAQ names Symbiotics, and staff hiring has separate guidance.
Does passing UK course selection mean I have a job?+
It means you can be offered a training place. Any airline employment arrangement belongs to the specific airline-linked pathway.
Can I reapply after an unsuccessful UK ATPL assessment?+
The course FAQ says applicants close to its parameters may receive feedback and an opportunity to reapply. It does not promise an unrestricted immediate retake.
Will I receive assessment feedback?+
The Integrated ATPL FAQ says a selection summary is shared before course commencement. Do not assume this policy covers every airline partner’s selection stages.
