The Mercedes hiring process at a glance

  1. 1Identify the employer and programme — Mercedes-Benz Group, the Brackley F1 team and Brixworth HPP have distinct requirements.
  2. 2Application and online stage — The test format and eligibility depend on that route.Assessment distinctions
  3. 3Interview or assessment event — Follow the programme-specific flow below; stages are not interchangeable.Compare processes
  4. 4Decision and joining steps — Use the employer’s communication for the outcome and next actions.

What to expect in the Mercedes assessment

The official evidence supports online, technical and psychometric assessments in specific routes, but no named game battery. Prepare the format in your invitation rather than assuming a brand-wide test pack.

Good to know: HPP’s advice to review logical reasoning applies within its own engineering context. It does not establish that every Mercedes-Benz, F1 or dealership applicant receives the same test.

Which Mercedes roles and programs does this guide cover?

The name Mercedes can refer to materially different jobs. A Mercedes-Benz automotive graduate programme, an F1 team placement and a powertrain engineering scheme may each include assessments, but their published sequences and requirements differ.

Locate the exact organisation on the advert before using test-preparation advice. This guide compares the employer-published routes and retains the boundaries between them, including Germany-focused vocational training.

Mercedes-Benz Inspire

The Group’s graduate programme uses an online assessment, a short video interview and an Inspire Day. The assessment includes skills and personality modules; individual test names are not published.

Mercedes-Benz vocational training

The Germany-focused training route uses an at-home online pre-test and a further online test at the selected location before a personal interview. It is different from the Inspire graduate sequence.

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 graduates

The Brackley team reviews applications and online-test results, then selects candidates for interviews and/or assessment centers. Graduate opportunities span technical and business-support work.

Mercedes AMG HPP

The Brixworth powertrain employer publishes a separate process. Its psychometric stage is limited to core Mechanical, Electronics, Software and Motor Control engineering schemes.

How does the Mercedes assessment work?

Inspire Day has three exercises

Official source

The graduate programme describes three exercises at Inspire Day, but does not disclose a universal exercise format or test supplier. Avoid assigning a numerical test or group task without further instructions.

F1 testing deadlines are not test durations

Official source

The Brackley graduate page gives seven days to complete invited online tests. Multiple applications may generate more than one test requirement.

HPP assessment-center differences

Official source

Core engineering schemes do not include a group exercise. Mechanical candidates have a 30-minute Teams interview before an onsite stage; other HPP schemes may have different activities.

No shared vendor or game battery

No evidence found

These employer pages do not establish a single assessment supplier or game lineup across the Mercedes organisations. A Teams interview or application portal is not evidence of the psychometric vendor.

What happens in the Mercedes hiring process?

Mercedes-Benz Inspire

The published graduate sequence is specific to this programme.

  1. 1Submit the requested application and academic evidence.
  2. 2Complete the invited online assessment, then the video stage if selected.
  3. 3Attend Inspire Day and follow the subsequent decision and onboarding communication.

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1, Brackley

The graduate page sets out a flexible selection stage following online testing.

  1. 1Submit the CV and cover letter together as one PDF and complete the questionnaire.
  2. 2Hiring managers shortlist using the application and assessment evidence.
  3. 3Selection can begin with a Teams conversation or direct assessment-center invitation; the event may be virtual or in person.

Mercedes AMG HPP, Brixworth

HPP distinguishes core engineering from its other early-careers schemes.

  1. 1Submit the application and complete psychometric testing where that scheme requires it.
  2. 2Follow the interview and onsite assessment instructions for your discipline.
  3. 3If supplied a presentation brief, prepare to that brief and explain your technical reasoning clearly.

When is the Mercedes assessment?

Use the vacancy date and the assessment invitation separately. Some general careers pages contain older programme references, so a past start date is not evidence of a future opening.

A lower section still refers to July 2026 as the next start, which is already past. No new intake date is asserted here.

F1 R&D Design and Testing placementThe reviewed advert does not show a closing dateSeven days for invited testing, subject to its stated reuse exceptionOfficial source

The role describes a placement from late June 2027 to late July 2028. This does not define dates for all Brackley programmes.

Mercedes-Benz vocational trainingUse the selected position’s closing dateAt-home pre-test followed by testing at the chosen locationOfficial source

The training page describes next-year places appearing from June. That is an opening pattern, not a universal application deadline.

How to prepare for the Mercedes assessment process

The preparation below is suggested practice. It is designed to help you discuss the work accurately without assuming undisclosed test questions.

1. Make a one-page route checklist

Write the legal employer, programme, location, degree or school requirements and listed stages. Include the invitation deadline separately from any programme start date. This prevents preparation for a different Mercedes organisation.

2. Match technical review to the vacancy

For design or testing work, revisit a relevant calculation, model or experiment from a project. Explain assumptions, measurement uncertainty and how you validated the result. For software, prepare to discuss implementation and testing choices in comparable depth.

3. Practice explaining a performance trade-off

Compare two engineering options under a weight, cost, reliability or time constraint. State what additional evidence could change your decision. For business roles, use an analogous prioritization or resource decision.

4. Prepare motivation for the actual work

An Inspire application needs a reason for the graduate programme and its business context. An F1 or HPP application needs a reason for the advertised discipline. Build the answer around work you want to do and skills you can substantiate.

5. Use project evidence for collaboration

Prepare an example of disagreement, a missed assumption or a difficult handover. Show what you did to make progress and what you learned. Practice answering follow-ups rather than delivering a fixed speech.

Mercedes assessment FAQ

Are Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes F1 assessments the same?

No shared process is established. Mercedes-Benz Group, the Brackley F1 team and Brixworth HPP publish different routes.

Does every Mercedes application include a video interview?

Inspire explicitly includes video. Other programmes have their own stages; the Inspire sequence should not be generalized.

Is the F1 online test seven days long?

No. Seven days is the published completion window after an invitation, not the time spent taking the test.

Does every HPP candidate complete a group exercise?

No. HPP explicitly excludes a group exercise from its core engineering schemes.

Which provider’s tests should I practice?

No common provider is verified here. Use the name and format in your invitation; do not infer a supplier from the application system.
