What to expect in the Lazard assessment

The confirmed categories support aptitude practice and interview preparation. There is insufficient evidence here to advertise any particular game or an exact recreation of Lazard’s assessment.

Category practice

Official source

The Netherlands page confirms aptitude testing. Optional practice can help with accurate reading and decisions under time pressure. The Criteria hub covers several products; check your invitation before selecting product-specific exercises.

Good to know: Criteria support does not identify which proprietary test is used. Practice is preparation for relevant skills and formats, not a verified employer test or a predicted result.

Which Lazard roles and programs does this guide cover?

Identify whether your application is for Financial Advisory or Asset Management before preparing. Lazard’s London FAQ explicitly limits its answers to Financial Advisory and says Asset Management has its own recruitment process.

Location also matters. The Netherlands page publishes detailed assessment instructions, while the U.S. careers page focuses on application materials and does not establish an equivalent sequence. These differences are a reason to follow your own vacancy and invitation closely.

London Financial Advisory

Analyst, summer intern and industrial placement applicants share the published four-stage route. Spring Insight proceeds from online assessments to one roughly 30-minute online final with a banker and HR.

Netherlands Financial Advisory

The local page offers three-month internships throughout the year, aimed at recent graduates or students nearing completion. English fluency is required and Dutch is strongly preferred.

United States

The U.S. page directs candidates to online vacancies and asks them to prepare education, employment and certification information plus a CV.

Lazard Asset Management

Its careers page describes an undergraduate internship with potential longer-term opportunities and emphasizes intellectual curiosity, thoughtful judgment and collaboration.

How does the Lazard assessment work?

What Criteria identification establishes

Official source

The Netherlands assessment instructions name Criteria Support. They do not name CCAT, EPP or a particular game. The provider relationship is clearer than the exact product identification.

Published aptitude rules

Official source

The Netherlands guide specifies 15 minutes, no calculator and no scoring deduction for educated guesses. Its behavioral component is untimed and takes about 10 minutes.

Time to set aside

Official source

The Netherlands guide allows approximately 35–40 minutes for all assessment components together, in one sitting. This is a session duration, not the expiry date of your invitation.

Adjustments before testing

Official source

The London FAQ tells applicants who need assistance or extra time to flag this in their application and provide supporting information to recruitment before the online assessments.

Limits of the published evidence

No evidence found

The reviewed sources do not establish numerical passing thresholds, or the selection sequence for U.S. and Asset Management applicants. Use the instructions specific to those roles.

What happens in the Lazard hiring process?

London: after the online assessment

The current program page distinguishes the main routes from Spring Insight.

  1. 1Analyst, intern and placement candidates progress through a virtual assessment center.
  2. 2Finals on those routes comprise two in-person interviews of about 30 minutes each.
  3. 3Spring Insight instead has the single online final described above.

United States: what the published page establishes

The local page provides application instructions rather than an assessment flow.

  1. 1Prepare personal, educational and employment details, certifications and a CV.
  2. 2Use a readable PDF attachment; the page requests files below 512 KB.
  3. 3Save a draft if needed, then check the application carefully before submission.
  4. 4Use the role’s subsequent invitation for assessment and interview arrangements. Do not import London’s stage order into this application.

How to prepare for the Lazard assessment process

Prepare for the work as well as the timed screen. The London FAQ describes analyst responsibilities including research, financial models, client materials and communicating conclusions. The exercises below are practical suggestions, not guaranteed interview questions.

1. Explain an advisory decision

Choose a publicly announced transaction and write a short brief: the client’s objective, alternatives, strategic logic and main execution risk. Practice distinguishing verified facts from your interpretation, and explain what additional information could change your view.

2. Strengthen the foundations

Review how financial statements connect, why enterprise and equity value differ, and how valuation assumptions affect a conclusion. Work through a small numerical example aloud. Prioritize clear reasoning over memorizing lengthy technical scripts.

3. Train efficient aptitude decisions

Use short practice sessions without a calculator where your invitation requires that. Review errors by cause: misreading, calculation or spending too long on one question. Set a sensible point for moving on and practice maintaining concentration until the end.

4. Show judgment in a team

Practice discussing a problem with someone who reaches a different conclusion. Summarize their strongest point, identify the disagreement and use evidence to resolve it. Prepare a real example where your contribution improved a group outcome.

5. Make motivation specific

Explain why the relevant business and office fit your interests. For an Asset Management application, practice forming a balanced investment view with risks and an opposing case. For Financial Advisory, focus on client decisions and transaction work. These are preparation exercises, not promised questions.

Lazard assessment FAQ

Is Lazard’s test definitely the CCAT?

That exact product name is not confirmed by the reviewed employer pages. Criteria involvement alone does not establish the specific assessment.

Does Asset Management follow the same process?

Lazard’s London FAQ says Asset Management recruits separately. Use the relevant Asset Management vacancy and instructions.

Do I need a finance degree for London Financial Advisory?

The London FAQ welcomes all academic disciplines and says prior financial-services experience is not required. Check the current vacancy’s eligibility requirements.

Can I submit several London applications?

The London FAQ limits applicants to one Financial Advisory student or graduate program application per year. It permits applications to overseas offices alongside a U.K. application.

What should U.S. applicants use from this guide?

Use the preparation suggestions and the U.S. application guidance. The U.S. careers source does not verify the London assessment sequence for U.S. vacancies.
