What to expect in the Jefferies assessment

There is no verified Jefferies-wide game lineup. The narrow test report below can help you recognize a format, while the strongest employer evidence confirms only that online testing is part of a particular London campaign.

Good to know: Do not assume a video interview, SHL product or game bundle from an application-portal name. Confirm the test in your own invitation before spending time on a specific simulator.

Which Jefferies roles and programs does this guide cover?

Start by identifying the exact Jefferies division, office and programme. An equity research graduate application, an investment banking internship and an experienced specialist appointment can test different skills. A report about one desk is useful context, but it is not a complete hiring policy.

The distinction matters when deciding what to practice. Use the assessment name in your invitation to choose test preparation, and use the job description to choose your interview examples. The evidence below separates employer statements from individual candidate accounts.

Internships and entry-level programmes

Jefferies describes a ten-week Analyst and Associate summer internship and separate full-time programmes. Its student opportunities span investment banking, fixed income, equities, research, wealth management and corporate functions. The published criteria include analytical ability, careful work and communication.

2027 London Equity Research Analyst

The London vacancy explicitly refers to screening and online testing and limits candidates to one application per recruitment season. It does not identify the test vendor or publish a detailed test specification.

Experienced and other appointments

How does the Jefferies assessment work?

Online testing is confirmed for a defined programme

Official source

The London Equity Research advert is evidence of online testing for that recruitment campaign, not a promise that every desk uses identical assessments. Read any subsequent invitation for the actual format.

SHL is a candidate report, not a universal vendor

Anecdotal

A Debt Capital Markets intern account dated May 2026 reports SHL verbal and logical assessment. Its location is unspecified. This supports targeted familiarization only when your own invitation matches.

Recruitment decisions in EMEA

Official source

Jefferies’ EMEA privacy notice says it uses electronic and manual tools but does not make recruitment decisions through solely automated decision-making. That statement does not mean there are no online tests.

What happens in the Jefferies hiring process?

What the published careers information establishes

The official careers pages establish application routes and role expectations, rather than one universal sequence of interviews.

  1. 1Select the relevant campus or general vacancy and check its eligibility requirements.
  2. 2Make your application specific to the division: identify the work you want to do and demonstrate relevant experience.
  3. 3Use the recruiter’s invitation to establish the next assessment, its completion deadline and the expected interview format.

Why interview preparation must follow the desk

Recent individual accounts illustrate variation; these are examples, not guaranteed interview schedules.

  1. 1A February 2026 London spring-week account describes motivation and technical discussion.
  2. 2A June 2026 London off-cycle account places a situational judgment test after a technical interview.
  3. 3A February 2026 San Francisco technology-banking account describes technical discussion followed by an in-person final round.

When is the Jefferies assessment?

Keep the application closing date, a test invitation’s expiry and the employment start date separate. A recruitment-season rule from one advert should not be generalized to every experienced vacancy.

How to prepare for the Jefferies assessment process

Prepare a small set of strong, adaptable examples rather than a long script. The following exercises are independent preparation suggestions, not predictions of live questions.

1. Build a division-specific explanation

For investment banking, explain why advising companies interests you; for research, explain why evaluating an investment thesis does. Link that choice to a project or experience that proves interest beyond the employer’s name.

2. Practice explaining a financial conclusion

Choose a public company and write a short view on its business model, main driver and principal risk. State the evidence you would need before changing your view. Practice presenting the same conclusion to both a financial specialist and a general audience.

3. Connect technical work to judgment

Review the accounting and valuation concepts relevant to your role. Explain assumptions aloud, check units and reconcile conclusions. For a technology role, substitute a project walkthrough explaining design decisions, testing and tradeoffs.

4. Make behavioral examples precise

Prepare examples of correcting an error, handling simultaneous deadlines and working through disagreement. Distinguish your own decisions from the team’s work, and include what changed because of your action.

5. Practice only the invited assessment category

If an invitation names SHL verbal reasoning, work on evidence-based passage questions and time management. If it names a modeling exercise, prioritize a clear, auditable model. Avoid treating an anonymous account as a specification.

Jefferies assessment FAQ

Does Jefferies use SHL?

There is a May 2026 candidate report of SHL testing for a DCM internship. The official London Equity Research advert confirms online testing without naming a vendor, so SHL should not be assumed for every role.

Is a finance degree required?

Jefferies’ student page lists a broad range of disciplines, including engineering, computing and liberal arts. Check the degree and graduation requirements of the specific vacancy.

Are the training case studies selection tests?

Not automatically. The student page describes case studies and presentations within employee development. A training activity is not evidence that it appears in recruitment.

Should I prepare for a Superday?

Some candidate accounts describe final interview rounds of this kind. Prepare for the schedule you are actually invited to; there is no verified uniform number or length of interviews.

What is the best use of preparation time?

Clarify the division, practice explaining relevant technical reasoning and prepare concrete examples of your work. Add specific test practice when the invitation identifies the format.
