What to expect in the General Electric assessment

No named current game lineup is established in the sources below. An online assessment is confirmed for some routes, but its subject matter and provider should come from the invitation.

Good to know: Do not choose a game simulator solely because a historic General Electric report mentions it. Check the current employer, country, program and named assessment first.

Which General Electric roles and programs does this guide cover?

General Electric is an important search term, but it is not enough to identify a current recruitment process. GE’s own FAQ directs candidates to distinct careers sites after the company’s separation into independent businesses. Check the name on your vacancy before using assessment advice written for the former conglomerate.

For GE Aerospace, the strongest detailed public assessment guidance is for UK student programs. General hiring advice and US student information provide useful context, but they do not establish the same tests worldwide. Treat old GE assessment reports as historical unless your current invitation matches their employer, program and format.

GE Aerospace and the other GE businesses

GE HealthCare separated in January 2023 and GE Vernova in April 2024. The continuing aviation-focused business operates as GE Aerospace and retains the GE ticker. All three have separate careers destinations.

How to prepare for the General Electric assessment process

These suggestions help you explain how you work and why the actual role interests you. They are not claimed GE interview questions or a substitute for program-specific assessment instructions.

1. Identify the business before researching

Save the exact vacancy and note the employer, location and program name. Then choose a product, service or operational problem relevant to that team. Being able to connect your interests to the advertised work is more persuasive than discussing the former conglomerate in general terms.

2. Explain a technical decision from beginning to end

Choose a project where you can describe the requirement, constraints, options, decision and validation. An engineering applicant might explain a design tradeoff; a software applicant, a failure and fix; an operations applicant, a bottleneck. Include a limitation you would investigate with more time.

3. Prepare evidence of responsibility

Find an example where accuracy, quality or a dependable handover mattered. Explain the check you performed, how you raised a concern and what happened afterward. This is an independent practice theme for technical and operational work, not a claim about a mandatory interview competency.

4. Rehearse recorded answers when invited

Record a short account of one project and one learning experience. Check whether the first sentence answers the question and whether the result is understandable. Practice adapting the explanation to a different audience instead of memorizing a fixed script.

5. Plan for the actual event

Once invited, read the format and equipment requirements carefully. For a group event, practice reaching a decision with others and explaining your reasoning briefly. For a technical discussion, bring your preparation back to fundamentals and your own contribution rather than attempting to guess confidential exercises.

General Electric assessment FAQ

Is General Electric now GE Aerospace?

GE Aerospace is the continuing aviation-focused business. GE Vernova and GE HealthCare are independent businesses with their own recruiting sites; the vacancy determines which employer’s guidance applies.

Does every GE Aerospace applicant take an online test?

No universal requirement is established. Use the route comparison above and your invitation rather than assuming every applicant receives the same test.

Is HireVue the current GE assessment provider?

The current pages reviewed here do not establish one universal provider. Historical event-specific video platforms should not determine preparation for a current vacancy.

Can I use this UK process for a US application?

Use the US vacancy and local invitation. The US student information has different program and eligibility context and does not adopt the UK stage map.

What should I practice if the invitation only says assessment?

First read the full instructions for the format, time allowance and any sample material. Until the format is clear, focus on relevant examples and technical fundamentals rather than assuming a particular game or aptitude test.
