The confirmed format is interactive behavioural tasks. EDF’s public guide does not provide a definitive list of task names or a guaranteed game sequence.

EDF describes tasks that capture how candidates naturally respond. Its own preliminary practice task is the best preparation for the invitation. Our Arctic Shores hub offers optional format familiarization, without reproducing EDF’s selection model.

Use the relevant stage guide to plan preparation. Applicants may share early screening while needing different evidence and subject knowledge later.
The UK early-careers FAQ places Arctic Shores after application review and a one-way video interview before the final stage. Graduate and apprentice interviews form part of an assessment centre.
Placement candidates attend a final interview, remotely or in person. It explores scenarios, motivation, values and behaviours; some programmes add technical questions. School and hobby examples are acceptable.

EDF distinguishes experienced recruitment from early careers: technology may assist the process, but experienced-hire selection decisions are made by people. This does not establish that experienced applicants never take tests.

The French FAQ describes telephone screening after CV selection, possible consultant interviews and tests, then meetings with recruiting managers. It does not name an assessment provider.

EDF gives this approximate completion time. Depending on the programme, some tasks are timed, with breaks between tasks. Candidates receive a personalised feedback report.
The Willo guide specifies four questions over approximately 15–20 minutes, thinking time, up to three minutes per response and an option to re-record. EDF’s recruitment team reviews the answers.
EDF says its recruitment team sets a pass score for each assessment and programme, with automated progression at eligibility and assessment screening. The policy does not publish numerical thresholds.

EDF’s video guide invites candidates to arrange support in advance, including an audio-only option where needed.
The published sequence gives you distinct preparation priorities.
EDF says these usually last five to six hours; virtual delivery uses Topscore with Microsoft Teams. The day may include the activities below; the invitation identifies the exercises selected for your route.

Treat the French recruitment guidance as a separate route.

An application closing date, an assessment expiry and the time spent taking a test are different deadlines. Record each separately.
| Cycle | Application dates | Likely assessment window | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| UK application | Use the vacancy’s closing date | Invitation-specific | Official source EDF says early-careers vacancies can close early when application numbers are reached and late applications are not accepted. |
| Recorded video interview | Within five days of receiving the link | Approximately 15–20 minutes | Official source Allow time to test the recording setup and resolve access problems before the submission deadline. |
| Reviewing an automated rejection | Request within five working days of the rejection email | Decision-review request; not a retake | Official source EDF allows candidates to contest an automated decision, provide further context or request human review. Its policy cautions that later requests may arrive too late for reconsideration. Source: The Use of AI and Automated Decision-Making in Recruitment at EDF |
Prepare examples and role knowledge alongside assessment familiarisation. The suggestions below are preparation exercises, not promised interview questions.
Compare the vacancy with your coursework, projects or work. Choose two reasons the actual role suits you, then explain what you want to learn. Avoid an answer that could fit any energy employer.
Practice explaining what you would do, what information you would need and why. Use a project disagreement, a changed deadline or an unfamiliar task as a rehearsal scenario.
Read about the EDF business named in the advert. Prepare one informed question about its work and one about development. For technical roles, revisit the fundamentals explicitly required in the vacancy.
Ask a friend to discuss an energy-related decision with you. Summarise competing ideas, state a recommendation and explain the trade-offs. Review whether your contributions advanced the discussion.
Save each invitation, deadline and equipment requirement together. Leave time before submission to resolve access or recording problems. Keep any presentation brief alongside your vacancy notes.
Yes, EDF explicitly names it for UK early-careers screening. That evidence does not cover every country or experienced vacancy.
EDF’s current UK early-careers guide names Willo. Check your invitation if applying through another hiring route.
No definitive EDF task-name list appears in the cited guidance. Treat any named-game list as unverified unless your invitation confirms it.
No. UK industrial-placement candidates have a final interview, and the French process has its own interview and testing stages.
EDF’s UK automated-decision policy provides a review route and asks for requests within five working days of the rejection email. It does not promise a retake.
