The BNP Paribas hiring process at a glance

  1. 1Application — Choose the local vacancy and confirm its program requirements.
  2. 2Program-specific assessment — Online tests, HR assessment or other exercises vary by program.
  3. 3Technical and business evaluation — Banking cases, markets assessments or technology exercises depend on the role.
  4. 4Interviews and decision — Follow the program’s HR, business and senior-interview arrangements.

What to expect in the BNP Paribas assessment

The strongest official evidence concerns reasoning tests, technical assessments, interviews, business cases and a track-specific hackathon. These are not interchangeable with a generic bank game-assessment set.

Good to know: Match practice to the exact invitation. A numerical or logic exercise can be useful general preparation, but no independent simulator is established here as BNP Paribas’s exact test.

Which BNP Paribas roles and programs does this guide cover?

BNP Paribas is too broad an employer for one universal assessment recipe. Identify the legal employer, country, business line and program in the vacancy before choosing practice. A continental-European Global Banking graduate sequence does not establish the process for a UK internship or a branch role.

Separate the assessment format from the knowledge it tests. For a case study, you need a structured way to reason and communicate. For an online reasoning task, you need to understand its rules and timing. For a technical interview, you need command of the subject and an ability to explain your assumptions.

CIB Global Banking graduate program

This continental-European program describes HR assessment with individual interviews and group tests, technical interviews involving cases and questions, and motivation interviews with senior banking professionals.

CIB Global Markets France

The France-specific page names logical and technical online tests, HR interview/group assessment and business interviews with technical assessment and a case. Its descriptions of program selection and tests are not fully consistent in ordering; follow the invitation.

General CIB Tech graduate pathway

The general CIB Tech page describes online skill tests, a hackathon for Developer, Business Analyst or Production pathways, and HR/management interviews. This overview is not a guarantee that every vacancy in those pathways uses the same stages.

UK opportunities are a separate scope

The UK careers page provides routes for local graduate and other opportunities. The detailed CIB program flows in this guide are not evidence that every UK division or internship uses those same stages.

How does the BNP Paribas assessment work?

General interview guidance

Official source

The group careers advice describes at least two interviews and roughly a month for recruitment, dependent on the role. Individual adverts can give different interview counts, so use the vacancy’s specific process instead of treating this as a universal minimum.

Banking cases are directly documented

Official source

The Global Banking program specifically includes technical topics, case studies and questions. Prepare to show the reasoning behind a financial conclusion as well as the conclusion itself.

Markets testing has a France-specific basis

Official source

Logical and technical online tests are explicitly published for Global Markets France. The page does not name the supplier or prove that another country’s market roles use the same modules.

Technology exercises depend on the track

Official source

The Tech program says technical expertise varies by team. Use the individual job description to determine the expected skills.

Paris Business Analyst vacancy publishes different steps

Official source

The September 2026 intake advert lists initial prescreening, recruitment-team application review and one or two interviews with HR and/or managers. It does not specify a hackathon or two senior interviews; this omission does not establish that no other exercise can be requested.

No universal game battery established

No evidence found

The reviewed official program pages do not establish a single assessment vendor, named game lineup or company-wide pass mark. Online testing is confirmed in some scopes without those specifications.

  2. 2Prepare for individual HR interviews and group tests.
  3. 3Review technical topics and practice explaining a case-study recommendation.
  4. 4Prepare to discuss motivation with senior investment-banking or corporate-client professionals.

How to prepare for the BNP Paribas assessment process

Choose a practice task that resembles the work of your stream. These suggestions develop useful skills without claiming to reveal the live exercises.

1. Structure a banking recommendation

For Global Banking, use a public company and outline its funding need, cash generation and main risks. Explain which additional information would change your recommendation. Rehearse answering a challenge to one assumption instead of presenting a conclusion as certain.

2. Connect a markets development to a client

For a markets application, explain a recent change in rates, currencies or another market relevant to the advertised desk. Distinguish the market observation from your interpretation and consider why a client might care. The aim is clear reasoning, not forecasting with false precision.

3. Prepare your contribution to a technical exercise

For a relevant Tech pathway, practice turning a brief into small deliverables, deciding priorities and explaining tradeoffs. A developer can discuss implementation and testing; a business analyst can clarify requirements; a production candidate can discuss reliability and recovery.

4. Review technical fundamentals selectively

Read the vacancy and identify the subjects you could reasonably be asked to explain. Work through one example in detail and state your checks. Avoid spending all your preparation time on a test brand that has not appeared in your invitation.

5. Use interviews to connect evidence and motivation

Prepare a concise explanation of why this country, program and business line fit your direction. Support it with a project or experience, and have a thoughtful question about the team’s work ready.

BNP Paribas assessment FAQ

Does BNP Paribas use one assessment process worldwide?

No single global test sequence is established. Official sources publish different steps for the general group and specific CIB programs.

Are online tests confirmed?

Yes, the Global Markets France and general CIB Tech program pages describe tests. Individual vacancies can publish different steps, so confirm the required format in your own invitation.

Will I have a hackathon?

Check your vacancy. The general CIB Tech page lists a hackathon for three pathways, but the September 2026 Paris Business Analyst advert instead publishes prescreening, application review and one or two HR/manager interviews without specifying a hackathon.

Are case studies used?

They are explicitly documented for CIB Global Banking and Global Markets France. Prepare against the program you selected rather than assuming the same case everywhere.

How long does recruitment take?

Group guidance suggests about a month, depending on the role. Program schedules, local interviews and checks can differ; use the recruiting team’s actual timeline.
