No game-based assessment is evidenced, at any tier
No evidence foundDeutsche Bank's own process pages describe a situational judgement test, a behavioral questionnaire and an ability test, and name no games. The popular claim that Technology and Operations candidates sit HireVue "embedded cognitive games" with memory and pattern-recognition tasks traces to a single uncited prep page which supplies no links, no candidate evidence, attributes it to unnamed "candidate reports", and hedges in its own text that Deutsche Bank has shifted its approach across cycles. Three other prep sites covering the same process — GraduatesFirst, Practice4Me and PracticeAptitudeTests — mention no games at all. Search engines re-serve that one page as if it were consensus. It is not.

The "Deutsche Bank interactive game" is a culture preview, not a selection stage
Multiple sourcesDeutsche Bank did build an interactive game — targetjobs describes it as "designed to give interested students a feel for the culture of the organisation", and PracticeAptitudeTests describes the same artifact as the Deutsche Bank Career Experience, an immersive video with six challenges scored from Bronze to Platinum. It is pre-application marketing and self-insight. It is not scored for selection, completing it is not part of the process, and skipping it costs you nothing. This is the most likely honest route to a false "Deutsche Bank uses games" belief, so it is worth naming explicitly.

Deutsche Bank names the components, but never the vendor
Official sourceThe FAQ lists them verbatim: "Situational Judgment Test, Behavioral Questionnaire and an Ability Test. After which you'll be asked to do a pre-recorded Video Interview." No vendor appears on the Let's Prepare page, the FAQ, the Graduate Programme page, the Internship Programme page, or the Employability Hub — the bank's own candidate-preparation resource, which names no test provider or practice product at all. Prep sites report that the battery is run by SHL via its TalentCentral platform, but that comes from one commercial prep page with no citation, echoed by a second prep site's vendor table. No candidate invitation naming SHL has been produced. Treat the provider as undisclosed.

Only the ability test is timed
Official sourceDeutsche Bank states this outright in the FAQ: within the behaviour and ability battery, only the ability test carries a clock. The behavioral questionnaire does not, which means you can take the time to read each item properly rather than racing it. Deutsche Bank publishes no item count and no time limit for the ability test, and the figures circulating on prep sites — 30 questions in 36 minutes, 24 in 36 — come from generic vendor prep material rather than from Deutsche Bank or its candidates. Do not plan around them.

The SJT runs everywhere except the US and India, and you get two weeks
Official sourceDeutsche Bank describes it as a test that helps the bank understand whether your values and behaviours align with its own, runs it "in all regions except the US and India", gives candidates two weeks to complete it after release, and sends a feedback report on success. Deutsche Bank does not say what US candidates sit instead, or whether the behaviour and ability assessments still apply to them. A search summary claiming the SJT link expires in ten days and takes about 20 minutes contradicts the bank's own two-week window — ignore it.

The ability test is described only as "critical reasoning skills"
Single sourceDeutsche Bank's wording for the whole stage is that it explores "your behavioural preferences and personality style, as well as your critical reasoning skills" — a personality-style questionnaire plus a reasoning test. Candidate-facing prep sites report the reasoning content as numerical, verbal and inductive or logical, usually combined into a single ability test, which is consistent with the bank's phrasing but is not confirmation of any particular test product. No specific product name is established, and the "Verify Interactive" label that circulates for Deutsche Bank actually appears in a prep site's description of its own practice package, not as a claim about what the bank administers.

The video interview is pre-recorded, UK and APAC only, and the platform is unnamed
Official sourceDeutsche Bank states: "In our UK and APAC regions, this will be a video interview, where you will be provided some preparation time after being shown each question and before recording your response." The FAQ confirms it "is not a live interaction, you will be recorded in your own time", that you get two minutes to prepare and two minutes to record per question, and that you "just have the one attempt". Outside the UK and APAC, Deutsche Bank says you may instead have a live virtual meeting with the hiring division — so do not assume a one-way recording if you are applying elsewhere. Prep sites assert HireVue as the platform, but one of them links only to its own generic HireVue product page and the other is the uncited games page. Deutsche Bank names nothing.

Deutsche Bank asks you not to use AI on the video interview
Official sourceDirectly from the FAQ: "We strongly recommend that you do not use AI tools to answer these questions." Combined with the one-attempt rule and the two-minute preparation window, the practical reading is that Deutsche Bank expects a prepared but spoken answer, not a read one. Rehearsing your own examples beforehand is fine; generating them live is what the guidance is aimed at.

Technical problems: you resume where you left off, and resets exist
Official sourceThe FAQ states that if your internet connection drops mid-assessment you resume at the same point, and that if you hit technical problems you can request a reset from the recruitment team. Worth knowing before you panic and restart a browser mid-test. Deutsche Bank also publishes a reasonable-adjustment route for candidates who need one — raise it with recruitment before the assessment rather than after.

No pass mark is published
Single sourceDeutsche Bank publishes no cutoff, no percentile bar and no scoring model for any stage. One prep site's vendor table attaches a roughly 70th-percentile estimate to Deutsche Bank, but that site's own methodology labels its cut scores as estimates derived from unspecified candidate-reported and public data, with no source attributed to the Deutsche Bank row. It is not a Deutsche Bank figure and should not be treated as a target.

What varies by role is not published either
Official sourceDeutsche Bank says only that you will take "a series of online assessments, the type of which will vary depending on the role and region". It does not publish which roles get which tests. The specific split that circulates — games for Technology and Operations, reasoning tests for the Investment Bank, Corporate Bank and Risk — exists only in the same uncited prep page as the games claim, and nothing in Deutsche Bank's wording supports a named per-division vendor mapping.

There is currently no independent candidate corroboration for either vendor claim
No evidence foundThe forums that would settle the SHL and HireVue questions — Wall Street Oasis, Glassdoor and The Student Room — all returned HTTP 403 and could not be read, and the one India candidate write-up that could be read concerns a track with no psychometric battery at all. So there is zero candidate evidence in hand for either attribution, and this page does not pretend otherwise. If your invitation email names the test domain or the recording platform, that single fact would settle what a dozen prep pages have been guessing at.
