Know the PiCAT process
- A recruiter registers eligible applicants and provides an access code. Current public guidance limits PiCAT to one use for people who have never taken ASVAB.
- The access code expires after 30 days. Once you start, you must finish within 48 hours.
- PiCAT has no individual subtest time limits and usually takes about 2–3 hours. Official guidance recommends completing it without stopping when possible.
- You must work without a calculator or outside help. Arrange an uninterrupted setting where your result reflects your own knowledge.
Understand the verification test
The proctored PiCAT verification test, or Vtest, must follow within 45 days of PiCAT. It usually takes about 25–30 minutes. Successful verification makes the PiCAT result the official ASVAB record.
Vtest does not provide a separate applicant score. Further testing may be required. The public guidance does not provide a dependable shortcut based on memorizing a repeated question set, and this site does not simulate the secure verification algorithm.
Prepare all relevant subjects
Use the ten subject drills to strengthen the same broad areas tested by ASVAB. Start untimed while learning a method, then answer fresh questions without notes or help.
Our timed computer-format and paper-format simulations are additional preparation modes. Their section clocks are not PiCAT rules, and our fixed question forms do not reproduce its adaptive scoring.
Plan the practical details
- Confirm your access and verification arrangements with the recruiter who registered you.
- Set aside enough time and use a reliable computer and connection.
- Practice manual arithmetic beforehand so the calculator restriction is familiar.
- Use mistakes to guide study before testing; do not rely on help during PiCAT that you will not have during verification.
Keep practice and official results separate
A high practice percentage does not certify that a PiCAT result will verify. Official scoring and verification use information that our original question bank does not reproduce.
Use saved practice results to find weak subjects and check improvement. Follow your recruiter’s instructions for the official test and any additional testing.
Common questions
Is this an official PiCAT test?
No. This is independent ASVAB preparation. Only the official recruiter-issued PiCAT and its proctored verification process can produce a valid PiCAT-based ASVAB record.
Will the verification test ask exactly the same questions?
Do not count on an identical set. The current public guidance explains verification without promising an exact repeated-question list. Prepare to solve the underlying problems independently.
Can I use notes, a calculator or another person’s help?
Official PiCAT guidance prohibits outside assistance and calculators. Work independently so the result reflects the knowledge you can demonstrate again under proctoring.
Can I retake PiCAT if I dislike the result?
Current official guidance makes PiCAT a one-time option for applicants who have never taken ASVAB. Discuss subsequent official testing with your recruiter rather than assuming PiCAT can be restarted or repeated.
Does a practice pass pay for PiCAT or enlistment testing?
No. An ASVAB pass here purchases access to this site’s practice drills, replays and combined tests. Official testing is arranged separately through the relevant recruiter or school.
