Practice the four subjects
- Arithmetic Reasoning: translate word problems into calculations using rates, ratios, percentages and measurement.
- Mathematics Knowledge: apply number rules, algebra and geometry.
- Word Knowledge: identify the closest meaning of a word, alone or in context.
- Paragraph Comprehension: use a passage to answer questions about details, main ideas and supported inferences.
Choose drills or combined practice
Use a short subject drill to identify a weakness and review its method. Use AFQT subjects practice when you want to work through all four sections in one sitting, with explanations after the sitting ends.
Our combined computer-format practice has 55 questions. Its section limits total 122 minutes, using the current official no-tryout limits for these four subjects. This is a practice grouping; there is no separate official 55-question AFQT examination with that timing.
Read an AFQT score correctly
The official AFQT is a percentile from 1 to 99. A percentile of 60 means scoring as well as or better than 60% of the reference population; it does not mean answering 60% of questions correctly.
Official scoring combines the mathematics subtests with a Verbal Expression component derived from Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension. It uses standardized, calibrated scores. Our correct-answer counts cannot reproduce that calculation.
Prepare for your career as well as eligibility
AFQT and job qualification answer different questions. Services also combine ASVAB subtest scores into occupational composites, sometimes called line scores. Technical subjects can matter to a desired role even though they do not enter AFQT.
Once the four core subjects are improving, check the current requirements for the roles you are considering and include the relevant science, electronics, auto, shop, mechanical and spatial practice.
Make the next attempt informative
- Choose the weakest subject from your last result and review the method behind each miss.
- Try a fresh set after a delay, without looking at earlier answers.
- Compare the same practice mode and content version, including unanswered questions and section timing.
- Treat a practice target as evidence about this material, not as a guaranteed official score or service eligibility decision.
Common questions
Is AFQT a separate test from ASVAB?
AFQT is a score derived from four ASVAB subtests. Recruiters may also use a separate screening or predictor tool, but that is not the complete ASVAB and does not replace the official qualification process.
What AFQT score do I need?
Requirements depend on the service, current policy and applicant circumstances. Confirm the applicable requirement with your recruiter or the service’s official recruiting guidance. There is no single cutoff that this practice site can apply to everyone.
Can I ignore all six other subjects?
Not if you are preparing for the full battery or a role whose qualification composite uses them. The other subjects do not determine AFQT, but they can affect occupational qualification.
Can you estimate my AFQT from my practice result?
No reliable conversion is available for our original questions. We show accuracy, timing, subject performance and comparable practice history, rather than inventing an official percentile.
